Alberto Minotti on how to make the design morally ageless - etk-fashion.com

"We cannot get bored with what is not" - this phrasedesigner Alberto Minotti shocked the editors with her directness and rightness. However, this is not the only thing that amazed us. Read an interview with one of the most amazing designers of our time and be impressed with Alberto Minotti Alberto Minotti - the man thanks to whom stone in facade decoration, the absence of handles, sliding doors and many other things are now popular in kitchens. His main brainchild - the iconic Minotti Cucine kitchens - have long been considered haute couture products. This is a work of design of a museum level, while its functionality is comparable only to supercars. www.minotti.com Alberto Minotti began his story with the very idea of creating an exclusive kitchen concept Maistri. - The main idea is to hide all built-in appliances and get a clean visual surface. The philosophy is that any technique quickly becomes obsolete. In this case, it does not age because you cannot see it. You buy a kitchen for 15 years, and the appliances are renewed every 5 years. My tie will never get old because I am not wearing it. In order to completely change your thinking, you need to do a complete reset, that is, go down to the lower level, become children. Their strong point is that they don't have any backstory in their heads, they start from scratch. If a child is standing in front of two buildings - one filled with objects, the other empty, which building will he choose? Where there is nothing. This is because there is an echo in an empty room, you can hear yourself. An empty room also makes it possible to run, play and move. Therefore, empty space is more important than full space. It is more important to remove something than to bring it into view. - What is your philosophy of using naturalexpensive materials? - Clean line. God gave us mountains and trees - nature. From trees we make wooden surfaces, from mountains we take stone. Next, we just connect wood and stone. No fashion, no fashion. Artificial materials are fleeting. Always what is not invented by man, this is what Alberto Minotti chooses: wood, marble, granite ... There are no trends here. The now fashionable thickness - or rather "thin" - of the shelves does not make sense because of their arrangement. Alberto Minotti himself came up with all the "chips", thought out and simplified to the limit, and everyone began to copy it. And now he is already enthusiastically talking about the new kitchen storage systems. - These niches, for example, are one big handles,They open from all sides. I suggest the fourth type of opening the doors, not push-pull, not the goal and not the handle, but one large recoiling plane. Please note, there is a different depth of the shelves: 30 centimeters difference between the visible and the actual part. Thanks to the game of hanging boxes height, you can make a niche either higher or lower, adapting it to what you are going to put there. You come home and do not know where to put the iPad or iPhone - please, we have developed an additional space. Usually the kitchens have a socle height of 15 centimeters - and this is the only distance that prevented me from integrating the kitchen completely into the wall, since air circulation is necessary. - Your collection uses very richtextures and textures. Tell us about them. - For example, black granite was brought from Zimbabwe and is presented here in a mix of black and blue. Such material can only be emphasized. To do this, we broke the wall with a decor - tiles of a running size of 60 x 60 centimeters. The decor plays up the accompanying surfaces, the kitchen itself is not. The backlight in the kitchen is automatically turned off by means of special built-in magnets - it goes out as soon as a person leaves the room. And the refrigerator is illuminated from the fronts scatteredlight in such a way that the last thing you think is a refrigerator. Many manufacturers have copied the design of the Minotti Cucine. Factories that today duplicate legendary cuisines receive a large turnover from sales. But Alberto Minotti also has a sensible solution in this regard: he “copied himself” so as not to give this niche to others, developing a new design for Maistri kitchens, and, of course, added a few more unique highlights. "It's hard to make beauty on a budget, production and release is a personal challenge for me!" - sums up another flat line Minotti. An interview with Alberto Minotti was conducted by Oksana Kashenko.
