With your own hands

A bright element of the interior of the nursery: the decor of the chest of drawers with their own hands

Make the interior of the nursery bright and cheerful,without resorting to serious cash infusions, it is in your power. Our master class will teach you how to quickly and inexpensively transform an ordinary chest of drawers in a child's room. A bright and cheerful interior of a child's room is the key to the active development of a child. Intense contrasting colors stimulate the baby's brain activity and help him learn about the world around him. However, you should not paint the ceiling and walls of the nursery in all colors of the rainbow, because the child should not only play, but also relax in this environment. It is better to make sure that the room contains bright original elements on which the baby can focus his attention. Today we will show you how to make an ordinary boring chest of drawers a bright accent in the interior of a nursery. This master class uses the popular Malm model from the well-known IKEA brand. Source materials:

  • chest of drawers with drawers (you can choose any model whose front panel drawers have protruding beads);
  • lining (sintepon, batting or any other similar filler);
  • A stapling gun or a construction stapler with staples;
  • fabric (you can choose any colors, the more fun, the better);
  • adhesive tape (preferably under the color of the chest);
  • scissors.

This is how the standard Malm desk from IKEA looks. We begin to "conjure"! Take a lining and cut three rectangular pieces from it, equal to the dimensions of the front panels of the drawers. Don't try to stick the liningdirectly to the surface of the drawer: this can lead to unevenness. Next, cut out similar rectangles from the fabric. Their dimensions should be equal to the dimensions of the front panels of the drawers plus 5 cm. Lay the materials on the table as follows: fabric rectangle (pattern down), lining rectangle (exactly in the middle of the fabric fragment). Then take out the drawer and place it with the front panel on the prepared materials so that it covers the lining rectangle. The next step is to secure the fabric to the back of the front of the drawer using a staple gun or construction stapler. Do not make additional cutouts for the corners. Just carefully wrap the fabric: this will prevent its rapid wear. The end result of this operation should look like this. Be sure to check if all staples are holdingtightly. The final touch should give your work a more aesthetic look and a more secure structure. From the back, fix the adhesive tape so that it covers all the staples. Choose only high-quality tape, as otherwise it may begin to peel off soon. That's all! You have turned a banal chest of drawers into a bright and original object of the children's interior, which from now on will delight both children and adults. http://wallfry.blogspot.com
