Today we will tell about an apartment for a coupleWith two children and two dogs. A familiar composition? How did they manage to plan and decorate their homes so that it was convenient? Owners of the design studio over, under (Boston, Massachusetts, USA) Chris Grimley and his wife Kelly Smith (Kelly Smith) at the beginning of their business tested the strengths At his own apartment. They turned apartments, purchased under the affordable housing program, into a spacious apartment for a family of four people and two dogs. Initially, the renovation in the apartment was planned asLong-term multi-stage project. But the appearance of the first child accelerated the process. A few walls cut openings, removed all floor coverings and painted the floor with garage paint. Cardinal changes also affected the kitchen. The result was a spacious bright apartment in neutral colors with a few color accents. - - What is your favorite part of this project? - Kitchen. It has been changed just so that it is convenient for us to use it, and it looks more appropriate in the apartment. - - What difficulties did you face while working on the apartments? - Finish repairs before the baby arrives! - - How did you come up with the idea to create a felt partition? “This is a witty invention of Kelly and me. We are big fans of Scandinavian design, patterns and geometry. Therefore, the partition was a natural extension of our taste preferences. Redevelopment for the family The original layout of the apartment had many angles and uncomfortable moments that created a lot of problems for the family. The redevelopment included the creation of several perpendicular partitions that perform the function of zoning and serve as the basis for built-in storage systems. Snow-white kitchen in two lines In order not to loseuseful area, the kitchen had to be radically rebuilt. The old pantry was removed, and the new one was made from the old bedroom wardrobe, a message appeared between the kitchen and the living room space. The snow-white kitchen furniture was arranged in two parallel lines. The lower part of the kitchen, facing towards, serves as a breakfast area and a bar. To top off the global adjustment, the usual full-size refrigerator was replaced with a built-in countertop. This allowed the placement of hanging cabinets along the entire length of the kitchen and increase the working area. Built-in Storage Systems Erectedpartitions have become the basis for a number of built-in furniture: wardrobes in the bedroom and living room, linen boxes between the bathroom and the corridor. In addition, they protect the kitchen area from possible accidental views from the front door. Most of the facades of the built-in furniture are equipped withSystem of opening when pressed. This turned out to be a convenient feature, while the child in the family was very small. When he grew up, he was able to independently open and close the doors of his closet, get and clean toys. Neutral interior gamut and bright accents Forthe apartment has a neutral color scheme. Most of the walls and facades are painted white. Only in a few places are the functional areas highlighted in solid: the dining area and the storage system in the children's room. All of these surfaces are the perfect backdrop for the furniture collection, which is also sponsored by the creators of the project. Felt partition Partition between the living roomand an experimental felt installation serves as a children's room. Many multi-colored felt triangles are connected in a colorful panel and represent a whole "explosion" of color.
