Today we will tell about an apartment for a coupleWith two children and two dogs. A familiar composition? How did they manage to plan and decorate their homes so that it was convenient? Owners of the design studio over, under (Boston, Massachusetts, USA) Chris Grimley and his wife Kelly Smith (Kelly Smith) at the beginning of their business tested the strengths At his own apartment. They turned apartments, purchased under the affordable housing program, into a spacious apartment for a family of four people and two dogs. Initially, the renovation in the apartment was planned asLong-term multi-stage project. But the appearance of the first child accelerated the process. A few walls cut openings, removed all floor coverings and painted the floor with garage paint. Cardinal changes also affected the kitchen. The result was a spacious bright apartment in neutral colors with a few color accents. - - What is your favorite part in this project? - Kitchen. It is changed just so that it was convenient for us to use it, and it looks more appropriate in the apartment. - - What difficulties did you encounter while working on the apartment? - Finish the repair before the child appears! - - How did you come up with the idea of creating a partition of felt? "This is my clever invention with Kelly." We are big fans of Scandinavian design, patterns and geometry. Therefore, the septum was a natural continuation of our taste preferences. Remodeling for the family The original layout of the apartment had many angles and uncomfortable moments, creating a lot of problems for the family. The re-planning included the creation of several perpendicular partitions, which perform the zoning function and serve as a basis for the built-in storage systems. The white kitchen in two lines To not loseUseful area, the kitchen had to be radically rebuilt. The old pantry was removed, and a new one was made from the old wardrobe of the bedroom, there was a message of the kitchen with the living room space. White kitchen furniture is arranged in two parallel lines. The lower part of the kitchen, facing towards, serves as a place for breakfast and a bar counter. To top off the global adjustment, the usual full-size refrigerator was replaced with a built-in countertop. This allowed the placement of hanging cabinets along the entire length of the kitchen and increase the working area. Built-in storage systemsPartitions became the basis for a number of built-in furniture: cabinets in the bedroom and living room, linens between the bathroom and the corridor. In addition, they protect the kitchen area from possible casual glances from the front door. Most of the facades of the built-in furniture are equipped withSystem of opening when pressed. This turned out to be a convenient feature, while the child in the family was very small. When he grew up, he was able to independently open and close the doors of his closet, get and clean toys. Neutral range of interior and bright accents ForThe apartments have a neutral color scheme. Most of the walls and facades are painted white. Only in a few places functional areas are allocated continuous: the dining area and the storage system in the children's room. All these surfaces serve as an excellent background for the collection of furniture, whose authors are also the creators of the project. Fibreboard Partition between the living roomAnd the children's room is an experimental installation of felt. Many multicolored felt triangles are connected in a colorful panel and represent a whole "explosion" of color.
