And this simple technique is successfully used by designers in solving the problem of expanding space. The company Dubbeldam Architecture + Design has developed a reconstruction project Through House - a country residence with an area of 134 square meters, located in the Canadian city of Toronto. The architects were tasked to maximize the use of the territory of a compact plot located in a densely populated suburb. At the same time, it was necessary to create a comfortable and attractive living environment that meets all the requirements of modern life. 
Wanting to preserve the existing garden, the authors of the projectcarefully considered the possibility of expanding the internal volume of the house without increasing its actual area As a result, the dark, overloaded interior gave way to an impressive open-plan space. Designed to order elements, such as, for example, an original fireplace with felt lining, delimit the premises without blocking the view. 
White-lined courtyardoffers great opportunities for hanging out in the open air. Sophisticated detailing adds dynamics and originality to the design. Finishing materials and built-in modules emphasize the linearity of the interior, visually expanding and stretching it, and at the same time provide visibility of the adjacent garden. 
However, the main role in the resulting effect of spaciousnessone important detail plays. Panoramic glazing, which creates the illusion of the unity of internal and external spaces. Thanks to him, the interior of the house seems to be freer and more illuminated, and the transition from the area of the house to the outer courtyard is smooth and harmonious. The perfectly balanced interior of the house exudes a sense of novelty and integrity, and its color palette, for the most part, minimalist, dilutes the image with contrasting details.
