Today, the regulars of our portal will learnuse trophy furniture and ever-changing contemporary art as the decor of an ordinary family nest. Living in Amsterdam, the artist Highland Mather and his family have long been accustomed to hauling home various things found on the street. Some of them come in handy on the farm, and some are not. It depends on two main criteria: the presence of personal meaning and compatibility with the rest of the situation. The main personal meaning of the home is expressed through works of art that the owner of the house has accumulated during his twenty years of work in the artistic world. And compatibility can be seen in the organic “friendship” of the handmade table with the construction pallets or chairs found at the construction site, pulled out of the garbage can. Who lives here: Highland Mather his wife Malia Maser (knitting designer) and their son Addison. Place: Amsterdam, Size: 90 square meters, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. On the gray painted living room framed an entire wall with selected works of modernity. A coffee table top consists of various parts found in construction debris, carefully ground, oiled and joined together. Highland and Malia wanted together to give a second life to some objects, which, in their opinion, they threw out too early as unnecessary. Mather visited the World Art Gallery in the mid-nineties, now he is trying to recreate a similar wall of art, posting works by some of his favorite artists, for example, Evan Nesoh and Fayle. Highland's own work is distinguished by freedom of thought, originality, uniqueness, which he draws from the game of colors and textures until he feels that what he created has acquired character. Many of the drawings were found on the Battalion website, where Mather created his page. In the center of the apartment is very comfortable anda spacious couch, which on cold winter days in Amsterdam is covered with a large number of warm blankets and pillows. Around the perimeter of the living room is the original shelving system, which shows a rotating collection of all the collected items and parts. Such a solution may not appeal to people who love stability and do not understand the constant fading in their eyes, but it is on this change of impressions that the homeowner's inspiration rests, as he believes that the life cycle will never end. Almost all the chairs in the apartment are found.on the street. Here are collected such rarities as the school classic seats of the mid-century, the later Danish stools of the 60s and other specimens, quite organically coexisting with each other. One of Maser's favorite works of art is the black and white silhouette of an androgen angel playing the violin, which wears the name “Classical Violin”. The author of this work is Black Le Ret, who is recognized as the greatest master of absolute silhouettes. In the kitchen, the family has a favorite dining table made of natural wood, where it gathers for lunch or dinner. The walls are decorated with old kitchen utensils, and on a simple shelf are pots and pans. This approach, according to the owners, saves space and contributes to the development of appetite. A place suitable for housing was sought after with greatlabor, because Mather, above all, was looking for clean lines and tall windows in the living room. Therefore, when housing was finally found, family members were so happy that for some time they didn’t undertake repairs, to feel that they really found their own home in which they could organize exactly the space that would suit them all. They gradually got used to the idea that their dream, which had been cherished for a long time, had come true, therefore, despite the rather gloomy initial situation, repairs were not started immediately. Mather's favorite place is the brown leather chair, where he works, reads, thinks. This chair belonged to the artist's father, so the whole family knows that it is forbidden to occupy it. The most expensive painting, portrait artist brushAmanda Marie, called "Face to Face with Your True Nature", hangs over the bed of the spouses. The rack, which is also located in the bedroom, Mather, as always found on the street. All wooden objects that decorate the apartment, carefully updated and re-processed. Each of them found a worthy place, and both spouses are proud to be engaged in such a noble cause. They cannot pass by the thing that is capable of finding a second chance for life. If at least some people decided to repeat their experience, there would be much less rubbish on the streets of the city. Mather is resting on the couch with Addison.
