New Year is a family holiday for me, and I broke the tradition of celebrating it in the family circle only a couple of times. Once I was celebrating on a yacht in the Caribbean, which is great in itself, but the feeling of a holiday, alas, is not. Here's how it was: all of a sudden, in broad daylight, my friends and I realized that the New Year was about to come. We ran to the bar, the clock was about 18 local time ... hello, New Year! To be honest, we did not feel the holiday at all. Alien traditions take root with difficulty. Bath, for example, happens to me in a year. It's difficult to get there, but the tradition itself is to my liking: it's also a great way to see friends on the eve of the holiday! 
I really like the tradition of forfeiting gifts:everyone writes their wishes, the rest draw out one idea for a gift, which one - remains unknown until the arrival of the holiday. In the second round, names are drawn and it is played out who is giving to whom. I advise you to take it on board: both the idea is interesting, and the gifts are useful. There is another tradition: at Christmas and at Christmas time I write down 12 of my desires, from which I draw three and keep it until the next Christmas. This tradition was taught to me by my mother at school. We put the gifts strictly under the tree - this is an obligatory rule: they look much more festive and desirable. And where without a playlist of old favorite songs in anticipation of the coming holiday? 
Menu for the New Year's table we make long andcarefully. Once they even decided on a total experiment: they abandoned the usual dishes and replaced them with new ones. But the idea did not take root: all the same, the New Year is proven dishes. To create a festive mood, decorate the table with oranges and tangerines with a carnation stuck in them - the smell turns out to be unique! You can not do without mulled wine - we cook it on weekends since the beginning of December and create a New Year mood. Traditionally, this is a Christmas tree, but a fireplace, decorated with a charming spruce wreath, or an elegant dining table in the living room can take on an honorable role. Make a choice in favor of natural! Instead of artificial wreaths and decor elements, decorate your favorite house with wreaths of elegantly intertwined living twigs. Such a wreath can be ordered from a florist, and if you create it yourself, this will be a real occasion for pride. Save the life of the Christmas tree: it can be purchased in a tub, and after the holiday you can land on the street so that it continues to please you already there. And if you have given preference to an artificial tree, then you must choose the most qualitative, the most natural. Otherwise, the main decoration of your interior risks to look lean and mediocre.

In addition to beauty, they will bring warmth, coziness and fairytale atmosphere into the house. We see multi-colored garlands in almost every house or cafe before the New Year. As an alternative to the past rains and tinsel, use stylish paper garlands and paper flags. I myself am a big fan of proven traditions, but sometimes it's worth trying new ones.
