Successful Moscow restaurateur Vladimir PerelmanI launched a new project - the architectural bureau I Like Design. We managed to meet the owner in one of his establishments and find out if it's difficult to open our own studio. Vladimir Perelman managed to create really successful restaurants with a unique interior finish in just a few years of work. The first - I Like Bar on Shabolovskaya - was opened four years ago, followed by I Like Wine and Beer & Brut. At the construction stage there are two more establishments, but Vladimir has already launched his next project, called I Like Design. I Like Design This is a young architectural and design office, ready to perform only original and interesting tasks. The creative team of designers, who worked together on all the projects of Vladimir Perelman, specializes mainly in commercial real estate. Fresh ideas, non-standard solutions, vivid ambitions and boundless love for one's business - this is what most clearly characterizes the activity of the enterprise. Head of the bureau Vladimir Perelman met us in his restaurant Beer & Brut, the interiors of which were designed and implemented by designer Eugene Pozharsky. Evgeny is the co-author of all the projects of Vladimir, with whom they have been friends since childhood. And it was he who became the chief architect of I Like Design. Friends happily agreed to tell Roomble about their formula for success. - How did the idea to open an architectural bureauHow long ago did this happen? "Evgeni and I work together very well." We grew up in the same yard, we have equally fine families, the same upbringing, world perception, principles of decency, we speak the same language and communicate a lot. It turned out a good and cool tandem. I am a restaurateur, and he has been engaged in design and architecture for many years. And each of my restaurants we did together. Yevgeny had his own bureau, and now it's now possible in our I Like Design to be engaged in those projects that interest him. - What is the concept of the new project? "Evgeny and I have been working together for a long time, so we understand the key in which to develop. In addition to architecture and design, it will be everything - from construction and ending with attempts to make author's furniture, decor and interior items. Eugene himself creates in the workshop a unique number of interesting art objects - from items of sanitary engineering and to musical instruments. - Brand I Like Design, it turns out, was formeda few months ago? What will change in your work? - Yes, he only recently appeared, but in fact nothing has changed, Eugene as he painted all our projects, and draws, he makes two new restaurants. And all subsequent projects, of course, he will lead. And I Like Design is, it's called, an outlet in people. In addition to the interiors of restaurants, we never did anything to order, so we hope that we can combine my organizational skills with Zhenya's talent. This will be our new experience of working together for someone. We never share our synergy, I never even think that Zhenya is working for me, and I'm his client. This is our uniqueness, because there is some kind of integrity, there is friendship, there is absolutely complete mutual understanding and great experience, because now we are building a sixth restaurant together. And they are all complex and thought out in terms of configuration and design, business and budget. Much has been done by hands, since Zhenya understands market realities and, in one way or another, reduces costs. - That is, every detail of the interior of this restaurant is made independently? - Yes, everything is done by us, and we deliberately overload the interior with elements. If you look closely, you can see that all the accents are made mainly from cheap and as a result - available materials, such as, for example, plywood. The main thing is the form, the color and the final result. You can mount the light bulb in a brick and hang it. It's cheap, but it makes an impression. Although there are laborious elements - for example, a piano-sink. A lot of money and time is spent on manufacturing, but a new and absolutely non-standard subject is obtained. - And this is what I like to describeDesign? - Right. Another feature of our bureau is that I, as a public person, answer my name for what we do. The essence of this business is that if suddenly the result turns out to be bad, the reputational consequences will be enormous. Because the restaurant is a living mechanism, and a few bad reviews can overshadow the activities of the whole enterprise. For me it's a risk and responsibility. Few of the generally recognized architectural bureaus can be compared to such coverage of the audience as we have. Through the already open restaurants there are about 300 000 people a year, and soon they will be twice as many. We make projects for the average and above, and this is the most vulnerable class of people, and in our case, we must be perfectionists in everything. - Is it difficult to open an architectural studio? - The restaurant can always be touched, which can not be said about the studio, which for the time being may be some kind of ephemeral and virtual concept. I Like Design now are people who can embody ideas. We are in free flight mode. Especially it is always possible to come to the restaurant, as in the already ready object of our coworking, to look at what our team did and to specify the details. Vladimir Perelman, Ilya Levshitsky, Leonid Shamis- Are there any orders from the bureau? - There are no third-party orders yet, we are now completing two of our projects. There were applications, and we are always ready to consider any order or answer questions about design, construction and repair. But first of all, let's take up those projects that will fit into our idea of the beautiful. - What is an interesting project for you? - There should always be freedom of activity. With me and Evgeny, that's why everything is so good and it turns out - I give him wide scope for creativity, I do not impose my wishes, in the process we can always change something. It is necessary that a person believes in you. For example, the customer will come and say: "Guys, you're cool happened, make me a fish restaurant the way you feel and want." We are interested in such a project. And if there is an order for a classic Italian interior with elements of Provence - we, most likely, will refuse. - Will the emphasis be on commercial projects, private homes and interiors or something else? - Private clients most often do not understand what they want. And working with them, accordingly, is much more difficult. All the time everything changes, and any commercial project is usually an economical work and a short time. Relatively speaking, we are now trying to put in the commercial component what they have been doing all these years. We get together to build restaurants, and we understand that we can do this for others. It can be not only bars, but also private homes, offices, cinemas. We are only at the beginning of the road and for the time being we will continue to work on our projects, but if I interesting design and an unique order arrive in I Like Design, then together with Eugene we will be able to implement it. My dream is for the bureau to become a full-fledged and large studio, which will create on a global scale. It is important that we want to evoke emotions in people, paint Moscow's greyness, love bright and catchy elements, try to make festive and unforgettable projects.
