A beautiful house of 380 m² has been rebuilt according todesigned by architect Bruce Bolander. This wonderful mansion in sunny Los Angeles is a perfect example of 50s design. One of its trends was originally called "modernist architecture." Now it is better known as "California modern."
The designers retained some elements of the originalconstruction: ridge and beams decorating the roof, concrete walls and floors, large windows overlooking the backyard. Initially, houses with this appearance were considered frivolous and too modern compared to other mansions of the same size. This caused some difficulties in selling such properties.
Colour and shapes vary clearly between rooms.Panoramic sliding doors, which are located along the rear facade of the house, allow you to freely exit the house and visually increase the space.
The layout proposed by the author of the project isa way to show off a version of a house where the windows are not covered with curtains or blinds, but it remains inaccessible to prying eyes. The furnishings are mostly in the style of the middle of the last century. Modern elements are also present, but very sparingly.
The landscape design echoesarchitecture of the cottage. Different types of grasses that stay green and fresh all year round contrast beautifully with the grey concrete and light brown pea gravel. Bruce Bolander successfully coped with the task set before him and transformed a cramped space into a beautiful modern home.
