The interior of small houses abroad

Apartment for students from Tengbom Architects

What amazing ideas for decorationyou won't find a home when looking at the achievements of the creators of modern interior design! For example, here is an exhibit of the Virserum Art Museum in the province of Småland, Sweden. It is a small-sized student mini-apartment. The project was developed by the studio Tengbom Architects and is being implemented with the assistance of the companies Martinsons (wood products) and AF Bostäder (real estate). The housing is affordable, environmentally friendly, comfortable and utilitarian in design and choice of materials. In 2014, it is planned to build 22 units of this product on a turnkey basis. To achieve success in developing accessiblestudent housing requires an innovative approach when making decisions. A small living area, of course, helps to reduce the cost of the product, but requires compactness. In this case, the project on the space of 10 sq. m provides for the placement of a kitchen, attic, bathroom and mini-garden with a patio! Efficient planning and glued timber as a building material allowed to create a low-budget house that meets the most stringent environmental requirements. The key issue in designing modernbuildings – energy efficiency. The correct choice of materials and construction methods play an important role in increasing this indicator. In this case, wood not only meets all the requirements, but is also available as a reproducible material. Reducing transportation costs from the logging company to the manufacturing plant is an additional bonus when using local raw materials. Reducing construction time is achieved due to the selected production method, namely, assembling the product at the place of its use. The public viewing of this exhibit is possible until December 8.
