In our article today we will get acquainted withan amazing house, the façade of which is made of mirrors, and from a certain angle, approaching the house, you may not even notice that it is there. Do you think this is impossible? Then read carefully! The project of a one-story residence Mirror House, designed by architect Johan Selbing together with landscape designer Anouk Vogel, was completed in 2013. It was part of the third series of compact experimental houses launched under the name De Eenvoud (Simplicity). The first two were De Realiteit (Reality) and De Fantasie (Fantasy). This amazing project took part ina national competition to create a custom-made residential property that would interact closely with its surroundings. The 12 teams that were singled out by the jury were given the opportunity to realize their ideas on an open plot of land in a wooded area of Almere, with one condition: that they would then seek buyers for their original, unique homes themselves.Mirror House is a private residence, facadewhich is made entirely of reflective glass. It acts as a camouflage or visual barrier for the interior space of the house. The extremely compact layout easily adapts to the requirements of a specific lifestyle. The constant dialogue between the designers and the client and the elaboration of the smallest details ensure individual orientation of the design. According to the original project, the foundation of the residence is slightly raised relative to the level of the site for a better view from the inside. Sliding doors and built-in wardrobes are also provided. The absolute linearity of the interior creates the illusion of volume and interpenetration of the internal and external spaces. The walls of the rooms are covered with birch multiplex panels, the warm character of which contrasts sharply with the strict elegance of the glass.
