Combining two rooms into one is probablythe most common type of renovation. By removing the wall and "grabbing" a couple of dozen centimeters from the corridor or hallway, you will get a new and functional room in which the most necessary things can easily fit: a washing machine, a rack, shelves for powder and towels, etc. One of the main conditions for such a redevelopment is its approval. It is necessary to foresee possible difficulties, especially in small apartments. Read the explanations on how to properly implement and boldly apply them in practice.
1. Good waterproofing
If you have decided that the partitionswill not be anymore, or you are moving the outer walls of the bathroom, then you will need to protect the subfloor from moisture. The cheapest and simplest option is to treat it with coating materials. Do not forget that before this, the old covering (tiles, laminate, etc.) must be removed, and the surface leveled if possible.
2. Ventilation system
In most apartment buildings it isprovided, try not to damage the boxes and air circulation grilles during repairs. If they do not cope well with their function, you can install a forced ventilation system.
3. Pipes - the work of professionals
When renovating a room, you should not move itplace where water drains from a bathtub, toilet or sink. If the plan involves such work, then think about the correct drainage, do not violate the required diameter of the work and the slope for the drain. Most often in practice, they encounter the need to move a hot water riser with a structure for drying towels. It is usually located along the wall, which is demolished and ends up in the middle of the renovated room. It will be better if the main work is left to the hands of knowledgeable people.
4. Warm floor
If you decide to make it in your bathroom, thenKeep in mind that you should not lay the cable over the entire surface. Be sure to leave free space for a place for a washing machine, a cabinet and other furnishings. Place the thermostat in an accessible area so that you can easily reach it, the same applies to water meters (hot and cold).
5. Unnecessary to clean
When most of the technical aspects are alreadysolved, the question arises about the competent use of the already small space. Think about what equipment or items you do not really need, and you can refuse them. For example, when there is not enough space for a washing machine, think about replacing a bulky bathtub with a more compact shower cabin. Perhaps there is a niche in the wall, especially often under the window, then it can be used as additional storage and camouflage space. In any case, all calculations should be thought out at the planning stage.
6. Separate
It would seem, why distinguish between whatjust combined. And yet, for a more comfortable perception (psychological or visual), a decorative wall between the shower area and the toilet may be required. It can be absolutely weightless, light, transparent or solid, in the idea of a screen or curtain, tinted glass, etc.
7. Do not overlook the corners.
Using their space you can do moreeffectively use a small area. Now, if you want, you can find corner shower cabins, toilets, which look unusual and take up less space. An original solution is a diagonally cut wall and a door built into it. Functional elements placed in the corners allow you to redesign the layout of the outer walls of the bathroom and change the area at the expense of the kitchen, corridor, hallway or neighboring rooms. However, try not to move the toilet far from the sewer riser.
8. Zoning space
After you have placed all the furniture, hang itrails with hooks. This will help you clearly delimit the function of every centimeter of the room. Cabinets built into the headboard or the bottom of the bathtub are suitable for storing cosmetics. "Put" the sink in a special cabinet with shelves, in it, as a rule, various detergents and all sorts of little things are hidden. Do not forget about the good old mezzanines. The best place for them is the area above the door, where you can store everything you need. A bathroom combined with a toilet should be comfortable and convenient, this can only be achieved with a comprehensive approach to planning, furnishings and arrangement.
