News just came from overseas, which made the hearts of designers, artists and connoisseurs of true art beat faster. On Thursday, November 27, an auction will start on the Paddle8 website, which will attract close attention. The "culprit" of the art commotion is the Mexican collector Alexandre Lemaire, the owner of a famous collection of art and design objects called The Eye Collection. In total, the collection has about 3,000 items, each of which deserves a separate story. Most of them are Mexican design artifacts of the modern era. There are also new items that Lemaire acquired quite recently. How did he decide to part with his collection? Lemaire explains it simply: "objects must travel, live, meet new owners." Only a part of the things will be put up for sale. What exactly - was decided after Regina Pozo, director of the design museum in Mexico City, spent two years inventorying the collection. She then helped Lemaire select the 150 lots that will be auctioned off on the Paddle8 website this Thursday. The lots include famous pieces like an altar, Arturo Pani nightstands, and several versions of Pedro Friedeberg’s iconic Hand chair — all with pre-sale estimates of $9,000 to $12,000. There will also be dozens of lesser-proven pieces: mid-century anatomical models, puppet limbs, and vintage Mexican posters. nytimes.com
