And when they say "on the lake", they don't mean the shore of the reservoir, but the water surface, albeit frozen. But how such an establishment appeared and who came up with the idea to create a restaurant that will only be open three weeks a year, while the water surface is covered with ice, we will find out now.
The project was created by OS31 fordesign competition RAW. "Almond", as the restaurant was named, is not exactly on the lake, but rather very close, at the mouth of the Red River, which is not far from Winnipeg in Canada. Its opening will take place on January 22, 2015, during the annual winter festival, so there will definitely be no end of visitors. The chef and part-time owner of the establishment Mandel Hitzer has created a menu for every day, where there is not a single repeating dish, and accordingly, the cost of such a pleasure starts from 150 euros.
The appearance of the building is very reminiscenta large snowdrift that is designed to fit into the surrounding environment. Having an X-shape, the restaurant is divided into four wings: an entrance with a bar, two dining areas and a kitchen. The interior, like the outside, is dominated by white, but the warm fur chairs will not let you freeze inside this frosty establishment. By the way, this is the first such restaurant in the world located on frozen water. So if you have the opportunity, hurry to visit it, otherwise this chance may melt away and appear again only in a year.
