Interior of a studio apartment

Decorating a small apartment - what are the rules?

Small apartment decor should work inin favor of its attractiveness and functionality The design of a small apartment, as the examples in this article show, can be interesting, functional and reflect the individuality of the owners. The layout of each of these spaces is an example of rational use of scarce square meters, the number of which in all cases does not exceed 50. Whether you dream of buying a small house, or just want to transform the one you live in now, these wonderful apartments will inspire you to your own design achievements. By the way, many of those people who, in general, could afford more spacious housing, consciously settle in compact cottages and apartments, wanting to save not only on the cost of the property itself, but also on utility bills in the future. Take a closer look at these interiors: some of the ideas implemented in them will definitely be useful to you!

1 Apartment designed by Petr Matuszek and Gosia Czarny

Talented Czech designers Petr Matuscek andGosya Charny gave a total makeover to a tiny apartment measuring only 20 square meters. The clients are a young man and a woman who have just started family life. Previously, the property belonged to the grandmother of one of them. The authors of the project say that they had to make an almost complete structural transformation of this apartment to make it suitable for two. Light colors and simple lines make the interior seem more spacious than it actually is. To add dynamism and intrigue, the designers turned to geometric prints, refusing to use too many accessories.

2 Apartments with partially separate areas, designed by Solo Design Studio specialists

Designers from Solo Design Studio have designedinterior of a compact apartment commissioned by a young couple. The main requirement of the customers was a clear division of the space into zones, but with the condition that it would remain open. Each area has its own aesthetic features, but at the same time, delicate inclusions of common elements connect them with each other. This interior demonstrates the validity of the approach, in which the studio apartment is not designed as a single space.

3 Bright studio apartment designed by Nastya Antonyuk

Designed by Ukrainian designer NastyaAntonyuk, this spectacular, albeit small, Moscow apartment has a lot of potential. It measures just 43 square meters. The interior is built around a central module with a matte black finish. This multifunctional structure acts as a storage system and a media zone at the same time. And at first glance, it is completely impossible to guess that there is a bathroom hidden behind it.

4 Embodiment of industrial style in the interior by Mikhail Temnikov

Working with very limited spaceWith an area of only 43 square meters, designer Mikhail Temnikov took a minimalist approach: he used simple geometric shapes and rich textures in the design. Concrete, wire and wood — with the help of these inexpensive materials, the designer managed to create a fantastic project that looks fresh and sophisticated. The luxurious greenery of the vertical garden acts as an accent that transforms the decor of the wall in the living room. This living panel helps to soften the harshness of the elements with industrial aesthetics. Well, industrial and minimalist interiors only benefit from an abundance of plants. The presence of free space plays a very important role in shaping the image of the space. Most of the furniture seems to float in the air, while opaque or massive furniture could block the passage of light and weigh down the monochrome decor of the room. Meanwhile, the whitewashed walls seem to radiate light on their own, making the interior positive and sophisticated. Concrete pieces can be found in the most unexpected places, in the form of pendant lights and even flower pots. And don’t these planters look adorable? Made by Thai designer Decha Archyananun, they tie together industrial and natural elements, creating a harmonious interior. These completely different interiors have bothhave at least one thing in common: they carry a positive message, convincingly proving that even the tiniest apartments can be beautiful and bring joy to their owners. Which of these projects did you find most inspiring?
