Lately everyone is trying to do somethingwith their own hands when designing and furnishing an apartment. Moreover, this is done on the basis of an unspoken division of labor: women are busy with the interior and design, and men perform the tasks of construction workers, independently making decisions on various issues. This concerns the quality of work with minimal financial losses.Scheme for calculating plasterboard for a wall.In this case, it is necessary to make precise calculations, for example, when installing drywall on walls or ceilings. What is needed for this? Below are tips and recommendations, based on which any interested person will be able to correctly calculate drywall for walls.
Flat configuration and small area
Scheme of fastening of metal frame underplasterboard. Let's say you need to cover or rebuild a partition or wall. To do this, you need to know the required amount of plasterboard. You will also need to calculate the auxiliary materials. It is advisable to do this with the least error. What will you need? To arrange the wall, you need to have:
If you need to make walls, then use profilesUW and CW, which are produced with a width of 5, 7.5 and 10 cm, on which the price of the material depends. If you just need to level the surface of the ceiling or wall with plasterboard sheets, then it is recommended to use UD and CD profiles.Types of dowels for plasterboard.For the partition, we select planks 7.5 cm wide, then the total thickness of the resulting wall will be equal to 10 cm, since we must also take into account the sheets of plasterboard. If the wall is decorative, then it can be mounted from 5 cm profiles. The calculation of the required amount of materials must be done in several stages. For example, let's take the cladding of a wall measuring 300x600 cm. First, we need to determine the perimeter of the structure: (300 + 600) x 2 = 18 m. Then the resulting number is divided by the length of the UW profile, which is selected depending on the height of the partition. In this case, it is equal to 300 cm or 3 m: 18/3 = 6. This figure means that we need six pieces of UW profiles. Now we need to calculate the CW planks. They are usually mounted every 60 cm along the length of the room: 600/60 = 10. But we need to subtract 1 from this number, since one profile is extra. In total you will get 9 CW strips. Return to contents</a>
How to calculate drywall?
Scheme of application of glue for walls from gypsum board. Standard sizes of one sheet are as follows:
- length - 250 cm;
- width - 1.2 m.
Since the designed wall has dimensions of 3x6m, then its area will be equal to 18 m². It is easy to calculate that 6 full sheets are needed for one side of the partition. But in reality the wall has two surfaces, so the resulting figure must be doubled. As a result, we get 12 sheets of plasterboard. There is material with other dimensions on the markets, but it is more suitable for covering large halls. Return to contents</a>
Calculation of fasteners
Types of self-tapping screws for profiles.Dowels are usually fixed with a step of 40-60 cm in UW profiles. Since the calculations resulted in 6 six-meter slats of this type, the total number of dowels is: 18/0.6 = 30 (sets). Let's move on to self-tapping screws for metal. To strengthen one sheet of plasterboard, you need 50 such screws. Then at least 600 pieces will be needed for the entire wall. The same number of flea-type screws is needed. As a result, it turns out that for a 3x6 m wall you will need the following amount of material:

Flat configuration with a large area
Types of plasterboard joints.If you need to calculate the amount of material for a wall structure, but the room does not have ideal dimensions, then a different calculation technique is used. To create the structure, you need the following materials:
Let the surface be 12x5 m.The perimeter is calculated: (12 + 5) x 2 = 34 m. UW profile is 3 m long: 4/3 = 1.2 (units). The nearest whole number is selected - 12. You will also need this four-meter-sized part: 34/4 = 8.5 pieces. Choose 9. When choosing the length of the elements, you need to focus on the ease of transportation and installation, the minimum price. CD slats are calculated using the formula given above for CW: (10 / 0.6) - 1 = 16.5. But you need to take into account that the wall height is 5 meters, and the profile lengths are 3 or 4 m. To have enough slats, 17 three-meter units are selected, but they are not enough. This means you need to add several two-meter ones. Their number is calculated using the formula: (17 x 2) / 3 = 11.3. Select 12 pieces. In total, you get 29 CD slats. Now you need to calculate the number of such parts of 4 m. You need 17 whole ones and the same number of one-meter ones. Having carried out calculations similar to those given above, we get: (17 x 1) / 4 = 4.25. Accordingly, select 5 slats. In total, you will need 22 CD strips. Now you need to find the number of EC hangers. This part is used to attach the sheets of the base material to the wall surface. You can adjust the length of the hangers by level, and they themselves are attached to the CD profile. The installation step of EC is 100 cm, therefore, given the design in question, you need 55-65 of them. Return to the table of contents</a>
Calculation of plasterboard
Since such a wall is more complex than the first option, the number of plasterboard sheets is calculated as follows:
In a more complex design, whenthere are cutouts or niches on the surface, to correctly calculate the number of elements, you need to draw a wall plan on paper. Calculations are carried out according to the drawing, which allows you to immediately find out the number of sheets of material. In this case, it is advisable to take into account all the bends of the structure. If permanent shelves are installed inside the niches on the walls, they can also be covered with sheets of material, but you will have to take into account their dimensions and allocate some of the strips to close the ends. The right amount of hardware
Installing butterfly dowels in plasterboard. They can be calculated using the above formulas for fasteners. As a result, the following figures are obtained:
- dowel-screws: 34 / 0,6 = 57 (pcs.), it's better to take 60-70 for work;
- "fleas" - 900 -1100 units;
- self-tapping screws for metal - 20 x 50 = 1000 (pcs.).
From the calculations we can deduce the result:
- UD profile - 12 and 9 (3- and 4-meter, respectively);
- CD racks — 29 + 21;
- plasterboard sheets - 20 pcs.;
- pendants - 55-65 units;
- dowels — 30 pcs.;
- "fleas" - 1100 units;
- self-tapping screws - 1000 pcs.
The following tools and equipment may be needed for calculations:
If you follow all the aboverecommendations and advice on performing calculations, then the loss of material can be reduced to a minimum. It is always better to buy 10% more than the result obtained: this will correct the shortcomings that may still occur with the most accurate calculations. This will slightly increase the cost of funds and will give confidence that you will not have to run to the construction market or to the store because you suddenly ran out of materials, and the structure is not yet completed.
