Selection of interior products
First, measure the length and width of the opening and lookthe thickness of the jamb and then determine the dimensions of the interior structure from the data obtained. It is worth considering that the purchase of extensions will be required in the case when the opening or jamb is slightly wider. Mounting foam is needed to fill the voids. Usually the kit includes:
- door leaf;
- a box (bruski);
- accessories.
In order for the product to acclimatize, it must be placed horizontally where it will be subsequently mounted.
Assembling the interior door
Marking the door frame for hinges.The door must be placed on the floor in a horizontal position, having previously covered its surface with a soft material, otherwise scratches will remain on the door leaf. Next, bars are applied to the product so that the distance from them to the door leaf is 3 mm. The bar on top is measured exactly with those that are located on the sides, and is sawn at an angle of 90 °. After this, the height of the opening where the door is installed is measured. The data is transferred to the structure (from the edge of the bar from the top to the very bottom). The gap between the floor and the door leaf should be 2 cm. Then the bars are connected using self-tapping screws, the length of which should be 2 times greater than the width of the bar. Hinges are applied to the door at the top and bottom at a distance of 20 cm. Their location is marked with a pencil. To deepen the parts, a contour is gouged out with a chisel to the depth of the thickness of the loop. Next, the fasteners are screwed to the door leaf with self-tapping screws. The resulting structure is inserted into the opening. When there is a large distance between the frame and the jamb, it is filled with foam.
Installation of the product
When the structure is in the opening before filling with foam, you need to check the plumb lines using a level.
Installation of the door frame in section.The door leaf is applied in the same way as a closed door, and 3 mm spacers are placed in the gaps. Next, the door geometry is checked. It is important that the diagonals are equal and there are no distortions. The door frame is secured in the opening with dowel nails (two - on top and three - on both sides). If the masonry is made of brick, you need to ensure that the fastener is not in the gap between the bricks, otherwise it will loosen. After the structure is installed, the hinges on the frame are securely fastened with self-tapping screws. When the remaining space is filled with foam, it is necessary to align the door horizontally. At the last stage, the casing is installed, which is adjusted to the dimensions of the door, the handle is attached. When the installation of the interior door is complete, it is left closed for 24 hours and, if possible, it is not used. Self-installation of an MDF door requires care and accuracy in measurements, so during installation it is necessary to check the dimensions several times.</ ul>
