Сate St.Hill had already given her three-bedroom apartment a complete makeover six years ago, when she was living with her high school friends. Now that they'd moved out, she had the perfect excuse to freshen up the space. And she'd gone with a surefire option: immaculate white walls that make the bright furniture look like works of art.

But now it is the mistress of the house’s favorite place. “I need somewhere to relax and unwind. And here there is an exit to a small balcony. I love opening its doors on a fine sunny day and enjoying aromatic coffee with an amazing French roll, reading the newspaper,” Сate says enthusiastically. Scandinavian style greatly influenced St. Hill’s aesthetic preferences when she traveled around her homeland for a month. She was inspired by the work of design studio Alvar Aalto’s and was captivated by the Marimekko stores. The key role in the living room’s decor is played by a sofa from Karlstad, decorated with traditional Andshine pillows and linen upholstery from H&M Home.The impeccable canvas of the walls created a wonderfula backdrop for all things Cate, like this funky Eames chair she got for her birthday. Cate and her boyfriend both write for magazines, and they're both obsessed with the written word. "We use words to neatly organize the issues that bother us," the London-based masters of the craft tell us.The stylish shelving unit is a particular favourite of the house's owner. "It holds all our postcards, magazines and vintage trinkets that give this apartment its unique character," says the journalist.Wonderful 60's teak chair with dark greyupholstery brings a unique charm and nostalgia for the past that Cate wanted to add to the decor. She found this interior treasure on eBay.Since the budget allocated for updatesThe interior was quite small, Hill bought most of the furniture online, like this Saarinen-style dining table or the Ercol chair, which was bought for only $25. And she simply fell in love with this photo of Kate Moss at first sight for its brightness and depth.And here is the kitchen, located in the backapartment, became a real problem. “It’s small and very dark,” explains Cate. To solve this difficult problem, she hung white glossy very compact cabinets that took up the entire back wall, and with the help of a metal countertop, created a cozy breakfast area.Open shelves provide visual conveniencespatial freedom and keep in sight your favorite Cate dishes made from genuine Chinese porcelain, whose soft pastel tones succinctly match the dazzling whiteness of the room.A simple wooden canvas on the wall is home to warm memories captured in photographs.The bedroom, facing south, is flooded with light on fine days.
