Mini kitchen:design in the form of a single block Hub is a nice mini kitchen, the design of which was developed by specialists from the Dutch company Kraaijvanger, and it contains unexpected components. The authors of the project proposed to furnish abandoned and unused buildings, which are enough in every more or less large city, with ready-made blocks that provide basic human needs. In addition to a full-fledged kitchen set, the design of each such module includes a bathroom, also in a mini-format. In addition, Hub is equipped with an Internet access point. Its area is 15 m2.The development was first presented last yearyear, as part of a Dutch housing competition called Havensteder. So, the unit consists of a kitchen set with appliances, a bathroom, heating and stereo systems. It can be installed anywhere where there is access to electricity and sewage. The idea is based on a flexible business model, assuming that a certain organization can rent out such units to individuals. The organization itself takes on the responsibility for maintaining the facility. Here is what is said about it in the project release: “The Hub is a modular, easy-to-install system that allows abandoned buildings to be transformed into residential homes in just a few days. It is assumed that the units will be rented out, not sold.”A pilot version of Hub has been installed in Rotterdam, the first hotel to be set up in an abandoned industrial building. Developing this idea, the designers are now working on different versions of the unit, including a mini-kitchen connected to solar panels. Do you think this project has any prospects in the rental property market or elsewhere?
