The interior of a small kitchen

10 photos of successful small kitchen design projects

The ideal kitchen for a small apartment –a dream or a utopia? Today, designers and decorators offer a multitude, if not an infinite number, of ideas and ready-made solutions for decorating the interior of a small kitchen, so the question of the ideal kitchen automatically moves from the state of “maybe” to the state of “that’s how it is”. Don’t believe me? See for yourself – for you, a selection of 10 successful options in various styles and directions. Look at the photos and read the recommendations of designers, and then it’s up to you…1 Agree, on six square metersIt is not easy to plan the position of the refrigerator, stove and furniture. However, “not easy” does not mean impossible. The photo shows one of the types of arrangement – a kitchen in two rows. On one side there is a cabinet, refrigerator and sink, and on the other – a hob and a kitchen work table. The dining table is located a little to the side, by the window, which visually divides the area into a dining room and a cooking area. The plasterboard partitions that separate the kitchen from the living room do not reach the ceiling. This simple technique allows you to avoid the feeling of a closed space and visually expand the room. Simple, stylish, and incredibly convenient. Lighting. It is worth dwelling on this in more detail, since it was carefully thought out in advance when developing this design project. A large chandelier above the dining table, wall cabinets and a hood with backlighting – maximum light, and therefore maximum comfort and warmth. This immutable rule should not be forgotten.2 Here is another version of kitchen layoutin two rows. However, this time, between two parallel rows of furniture, there is a dining table. This design is suitable for a square kitchen. Color is the most effective way to visually expand the space. In this project, only soft colors were used - white brickwork as an "apron", light beige walls and bright orange furniture. A warm range of shades of "edible" colors is an ideal "recipe" for creating a stylish interior, as well as a psychologically harmonious atmosphere for the place of cooking and eating. Many cabinets and drawers allow you to effectively use every centimeter of the already modest space.3 We suggest you take a look at another optiondesign project for a small kitchen - L-shaped layout. Convenient and rational for small narrow spaces. Provides continuity of equipment lines, which visually expands the room, and at the same time creates the possibility of arranging a work area by the window. In this case, it is a large square sink. What could be better - washing dishes, dreamily looking out the window! A good solution is also the choice of color for the furniture - light facades of the kitchen set, glazed cabinet doors with decorative elements create a feeling of lightness and spaciousness.4 Kitchen in one row - another wonderfulan idea for narrow, elongated spaces. The main equipment in such projects is located very compactly along one wall, leaving more space for the dining area. And again, the designer focuses on color - an effective, one might say, classic, and therefore a win-win combination of bright red, gray and white. Lots of glossy surfaces - shiny tiles, lacquered furniture, chrome backs and legs of chairs, as well as fittings - such an abundance of shiny visually increases the space, and reduces the "crushing" effect of red in the interior. Part of the work area is located above the main level - a well-known technique when at least one piece of furniture "stretches" upward, which creates an optical illusion that the ceilings are higher, and there is more space. This also allows you to use cabinets as a bar counter.5 U-shaped layout is beneficial for both largekitchens, as well as for small ones of 5-6 sq.m. It provides the arrangement of equipment in a continuous line - tables, wall cabinets, mini-fridge, washing machine, oven, stove, hood and microwave - which allows you to effectively use not only the total area, but also the corner elements. Agree - this is a whole art! And again, we will say a word about color! The snow-white kitchen set harmoniously combines with the warm natural shades of the countertop, laminated to look like light wood, as well as with an "apron" made of tiles imitating brickwork. Warm, cozy, and even airy!6 Pay attention to this unusual solution! The wall between the kitchen and the insulated loggia was torn down, and Voila - a convenient U-shaped layout with a work area by the window. Cozy and unusually light! However, the "airy" effect is also achieved due to the light walls and the soft color of the furniture in tone. Plus - the absence of wall cabinets. Open shelves and "bare" walls. It turns out that lower cabinets and drawers for storing dishes and food are quite enough. Who would have thought?7 Not always the perfect combination of smallspace and classics made of solid natural wood still have a place to be. The following design project serves as proof of this. The presented L-shaped arrangement of kitchen furniture is one of the most practical solutions for small kitchens, since it allows for a surprisingly convenient and compact arrangement of the so-called "working triangle" - a refrigerator, sink and hob. Long floor and wall cabinets, shelves, all kinds of pull-out drawers - all kitchen utensils are hidden, and not a single millimeter of precious space is lost. Pay attention to one more detail - the countertop made of snow-white artificial stone turned out to be quite narrow, and in order to fit the stove and oven, the designers "drew" an original ledge.8 Bright accents in this project area small podium visually separating the living room and the kitchen, and a bar counter located along the wall. Looking at this kitchen interior in detail, you understand how meticulously and carefully every centimeter was thought out. The play of contrasts gives the furniture its attractiveness. The milky white color of the countertop and several cabinets is contrasted with dark brown. Small cabinets look harmonious with large ones, and narrow ones with wide ones. Spotlights above the furniture and built-in ones visually raise the ceiling and expand the space.9 Original and very stylish interiorThe next project can be called "50 shades of gray". Various shades of gray look impressive against a bright white background. Such an impressive contrast is complemented by equally striking smooth facades, made in laconic strict lines. Minimum details - maximum space. Minimalism on six squares - this is also possible!10 Kitchen interior in high-tech style – hereYou can take a peek at a couple of interesting solutions for a small kitchen! The first is a minimalist table and chairs made of transparent plastic - they create a feeling of lightness and airiness. The second is instead of traditional curtains with frills, blinds with aluminum slats. The more natural light, the wider the space. And the third: an abundance of mirrored and shiny surfaces. This includes mirrored tiles of the "apron", and chrome handles, and a practical shiny rack for storing spices. The brighter it sparkles and shimmers, the visually larger the small kitchen!
