Today marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of oneof the greatest architects of Russia - Konstantin Stepanovich Melnikov Today marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest architects of Russia - Konstantin Stepanovich Melnikov. His projects were so original and fantastic for their time that they caused either a storm of delight or rejection. However, he managed to build about a dozen and a half buildings and erect several more exhibition pavilions. It's amazing that all his projects wereoriginal not only in relation to the works of contemporaries, but did not repeat each other. For each project, Konstantin Melnikov created new solutions, and the sketches of the same project also differed from each other. And each of them did not develop the idea of the previous one, but showed a new vision of the project.Management of the Jewish Museum and CenterTolerance, which is now located in one of the most famous buildings designed by Melnikov, the famous Bakhmetevsky garage, in honor of the 125th anniversary of the architect's birth, decided to make admission to the museum free every first Monday of the month.Today, on this most significant date, at 19:30, the museum will host open discussions called "Classic of the Avant-garde." Participants are expected to include Moscow's chief architect Sergei Kuznetsov, head of the Velonoch project Sergei Nikitin, architect Olga Treivas and art critic Valentin Dyakonov.
