Karim Rashid was born in the capital of Egypt in 1960year, but moved with his family from Cairo to London as a child. He is half Egyptian - on his father's side, half English. From the age of five he was interested in drawing and design, and then began to make his first sketches. He grew up and studied in England, then in Canada, where he graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, receiving a degree in Industrial Design. But he did not stop there, to improve his skills he moved to Naples, and then for a year he lived and worked in Milan under the guidance of Rodolfo Bonetto. For Karim, design is not just creativity or an opportunity to express himself, it is a whole philosophy of life that he tries to convey to the whole world. To this end, he even wrote a book, “I Want to Change the World,” where he outlined his intentions to find ways to make design items cheaper, introduce new technologies into everyday life to make it more convenient, and make amenities beautiful and accessible.
