Karim Rashid was born in the capital of Egypt in 1960,but as a child he moved with his family from Cairo to London. He is half Egyptian - paternal, half English. From the age of five he was fond of drawing and design, then he began to make the first sketches. He grew up and studied in England, then in Canada, where he graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a degree in Industrial Design. But he did not stop there, to improve his skills he moved to Naples, and then for a year he lived and worked in Milan under the leadership of Rodolfo Bonetto. Design for Karim is not just creativity or an opportunity to express oneself, it is a whole life philosophy that he is trying to convey to the whole world. To do this, he even wrote a book "I want to change the world", where he outlined his intentions to find ways to reduce the cost of design items, introduce new technologies into everyday life to make it more convenient, and make convenience beautiful and accessible. After all, by nature he is a real cosmopolitan, for whom the interests of society are above personal gain. Work for pleasure, not for reward. Or don't work at all.
