We want to tell you about glass wallpaper, their pros and cons, and how you can use them.
What is wallpaper made of?
Glass fiber wallpaper is a fairly new material. They were invented in Germany, and only 20 years ago they were used only for commercial coverings. But very soon, apartment owners also understood the charm of such wallpapers. They are durable, resistant to dirt, scratches and other mechanical damage, environmentally friendly, breathable and fire-resistant. They also “fasten” the walls and prevent cracks, mold and bacteria, do not emit hazardous substances and are non-toxic. But the best thing is that these wallpapers can be painted up to 20 times without worrying about their texture and pattern. This unique finishing material is made from fiberglass fabric, and limestone, quartz sand and dolomite are used for its production. Glass is obtained from the mixture, which is heated to 120°C and stretched into weightless and very thin fibers. This “fluff” is sent under a wet press to get a painting fiberglass - a spider web. The material, only 0.5-1 mm thick, is used to reinforce walls, after which the surface can be painted or covered with regular wallpaper. The most beautiful textured glass wallpaper is made from glass threads inserted into weaving equipment: they are spun into a patterned material. This is a rather complicated process, but it is what ensures the density and quality of the wallpaper.
What you need to know when choosing wallpaper
To find out how the wallpaper will “lie” on the wall,Cut a small piece from the roll, apply paint to it and let it dry well. If the seller does not allow you to do this, you can buy wallpaper from world-famous manufacturers that receive only positive reviews. Have you often had the situation when wallpaper spreads when gluing, stretches and deforms after the glue dries? Well, with fiberglass this will never happen! And they do not attract or collect dust, because they are antistatic.
