Interior of a studio apartment

Scandinavian style residential loft

Small interiors created by real peoplecreators, enchant with their beauty and functionality of space. The great architect and teacher, a leading specialist in postmodernist design, Charles Moore worked on his projects in a cramped studio on the top floor of the university building. He often sat up late and stayed there overnight. When the great architect passed away, his friends turned his workplace into a modern apartment, making an opening and connecting part of the attic. The result was a bright and light apartment, in which artists now live, coming to exhibitions or to learn from experience. White color in the interior is the background, these are the walls, ceiling, architectural elements. Bright objects and fragments of decor create a festive joyful mood. The small studio space had an unsightly appearance. A long podium along the window and a small bathroom in the center of the room. The main thing for working on projects was the light that penetrated through a large stained-glass window, and silence, since no one interfered with the work.In the corner there was a place for rest andwork. The shelves were used to store folders with drawings and literature. The mattress turned the hard flooring into a sofa and allowed one to sit for a long time without being distracted. A small table was enough to spread out papers, prepare for lectures and create sketches of projects. To create comfortable living conditions,The existing area was not enough. It was impossible to expand the apartment to the side, since the neighboring offices were used by students. Then they decided to make a hatch to the attic and design the interior in Charles's favorite style. The staircase railings curve and form a figured structure above the kitchen, decorated with bright objects. Below are open shelves with dishes, above are Indian art objects. The railings flow along the wide curved serpentinethroughout the room, starting from the bed on the upper level, mysteriously distorting the space. The result is a modern attic modernism with decor from objects and drawings of the natives, bright, colorful and unreal. The staircase to the second floor, thanks to the originalconstruction, takes up little space. The kitchen is located underneath, and the steps have turned into closed shelves and drawers for storing pots and utensils. You can cook on a small stove and in the oven. The conditions will not allow you to indulge in exquisite dishes, but everyday difficulties will not cause. The dining table is extendable and can be used as a table if necessary. The size of the lid can be increased. In the niches between the beams, various art objects are placed, which the artists collected together. Bright, they create a special coloring of the interior. There is a bed at the top.The wooden plank base can be pulled apart to make it fit two people. There is a vase of tulips on the edge of the railing. The ledge forms a kind of cabinet with a shelf, in the niche of which there is a figurine of the local Mephistopheles.White bed linen blends with the walls, making the corner even brighter. In the evening, you can watch TV, hidden behind the door of the nightstand, lying on the bed.Behind the headboard panel is a folding table and cherry-colored chair that attracts attention. The niche in the wall above the bed can be used as a shelf for books, a mobile phone, and other items.Compact arrangement of functional zonesallowed to create a bathroom with a washbasin, toilet and glass shower. On the shelf there is a transparent vase with flowers and clean towels for the postgraduate students living there and those who came on a business trip. On the wall there is an oval mirror for the bathroom. The shiny smooth surfaces reflect the light, making the room brighter. The beige color emphasizes its special purpose.Even a light bulb with a mercury coating on the bulb is nowlooks more cheerful, as it reflects bright spots of decor and light from windows. Each zone in the apartment, except for the ceiling, has additional lighting, which is turned on independently as needed. On a white background, colored ones also become decorbook covers arranged on open shelves. The friends collected art objects that Charles Moore was fond of and decorated the small and cozy apartment, creating a museum in it and preserving the library.
