Not everyone is lucky enough to have a spacious and comfortableliving space. But if you have a narrow space in your arsenal, don't be upset, using our advice, you can easily fix this unpleasant situation.
Layout
Not only in a narrow one, but even in a quite standard oneroom is of decisive importance. Therefore, before choosing the set you like, we clearly delimit the entire space. There are four types of layouts in total, from which you can choose the one that suits you best:
1. Linear
This is an ideal option for narrow rooms, which involves placing the work surface along one wall. In this case, the sink will be located between the refrigerator and the stove, which will save the work surface as much as possible and leave more room to maneuver.
2. Corner
This layout implies the locationa set along adjacent walls. This option will provide the maximum area for the main countertop and visually make the room more square. And if such a kitchen has a window, then as a bonus you can use the window sill, having previously moved the heating radiator to another place. This place can be used as a dining area or a sink. And if you connect it with a common countertop with a set, you will win even more work surface. As an option, the location of the dishwasher or washing machine under the window, perhaps you will shelter a mini-fridge there, and in this case you will become the happy owner of a couple of freed square meters.
3. Double row
For those whose kitchen width allows, maybeuse this method of arranging the furniture, but only if the distance between the rows is not less than a meter. And in this case, it is better to move the dining area to the window.
4. U-shaped layout
Very convenient, but not always available. As mentioned above, the distance between rows should be more than one meter. Perhaps, to achieve this result, you will have to give up the dining area in the kitchen and move it to another room.
We select colors
Of course, in such limited spacesthe best solution would be to use white diluted with bright accents or soft cool tones. But if you still want to weave in dark colors, it is better to add them to the flooring and lower cabinets, but not higher, otherwise the space will visually shrink and will weigh on you with its muted gloom. But you should not make the entire kitchen interior completely in white tones. Too blurry frames will immerse you in an atmosphere of uncertainty.
We organize lighting
If there is a window in the kitchen, then it’s simplegreat. Never cover them with heavy curtains or cover them with thick vegetation. Light should flow into the room freely and illuminate everything around. And if you also have high ceilings, hang the lamp lower, so it will be more comfortable to be in a small room with high walls. Also, do not forget about the illumination of the work area. You can run an LED strip directly above it or build in bulbs into the upper cabinets. This will not only simplify work in the kitchen, but will also help create a pleasant atmosphere thanks to multi-level lighting.
Choosing a headset
Now the most important thing. It is better, of course, to order furniture rather than buy ready-made. This way you will take into account all the features and use more work surface. Experiment with folding tabletops and bar counters. A pull-out or folding table design is possible. Be sure to use the window area, combining it with a common tabletop with a set. Doors that open upward or sliding wardrobes will be ideal. They will provide quick access to items, and at the same time will not take up space with opening doors. As for the upper cabinets, make them from lacquered material, and best of all with glass inserts. Play with contrasts, leaving rich tones for the bottom, and white, beige, cream or soft blue colors for the top, which will give airiness and weightlessness to the whole setting.
Freeing the top
Replace upper cabinets with open shelving, niches or shelves. This simple technique will greatly unload the environment. Generations with glass doors are possible. In addition, the background can be highlighted with an original print or an unusual texture.
What else do you need to know
- Flooring is better to lay across the room, so more visually increase the entire space.
