Interesting design move: apartment with a very narrow layout

This is the case when the disadvantage may be lessnoticeable Visitors to our portal will undoubtedly agree that interesting house projects arouse unprecedented curiosity. After all, such buildings are always full of features and surprises, which become the main object of attention. One of them can safely be called the creation of the architect Jakub Szczęsny, who created a studio apartment for the Israeli writer Etgar Keret. This is perhaps the most non-standard housing, which is located between two other buildings. 150 square meters are a creative workshop for the owner with a full set of amenities: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining area and living room. Further we will consider this structure in more detail.Unusual solutions are always attractive, especially if you take advantage of the circumstances correctly Inspiration came when Jakub Szczęsny was simply walking down the street. His gaze was drawn to the empty space between the cooperative houses. The apartment blocks seemed to be begging for some kind of connection to be created between them! That's when the idea flashed to him to create something functional, comfortable and habitable. The front entrance Of course, there were many problems, associated with a fairly narrow site. In addition, it was quite difficult to meet the requirements of the Warsaw building code, and this delayed the implementation of the idea to three years. Due to the location and purpose, the city authorities assigned the apartment the status of an art installation. The project was completed and put into operation in October 2012. Visitors can enter the interior from an alley away from the main street. The steel staircase has a simple and flexible design, it is easy to climb up and down into the apartment. The owner of the tiny apartment ascends to his secluded abodeA more detailed plan-scheme The gap between the twoThe width of the buildings ranges from 1 metre 52 cm to 28 cm at its narrowest point. The triangular structure of the space made it possible to make the gap less obvious and form smooth transitions. Thanks to the correctly set priorities, the housing turned out to be interesting, functional and comfortable for one person to live in.View from the inside of the main entrance Everything is brought together hereto the basics. Minimalism, neatness and functionality merge in one project. The location between the houses allowed to connect the communications to those already existing in the apartment blocks. The steel frame is covered with Kingspan panels and filled with nanofoam material, providing good insulation and fire safety.Snow-white walls are another way to visuallyhide flaws The cladding and decoration of the facade of the non-standard format house are made of translucent polycarbonate. Window structures are also built in here, providing cross ventilation. This skillful approach made it possible to transform a narrow space into a bright room with an abundance of natural light.Simple and effective solutions Movement between different tiers is carried out thanks to a primitive ladder. It does not take up much space, but performs all the tasks assigned to it well.Unconventional approach Small bathroomhas the same dimensions as a passenger plane. There are no frills here, the interior design is laconic and restrained. An open shower, a sink, a toilet - what else do you need for convenience?Practicality without frills The mini-kitchen has only the basic attributes: an electric stove, a sink, a refrigerator and a microwave oven. Water and heat come to this home from the communications of the neighboring house. The design of the tiny hallway is focused onon the neatness and lightness of the design You may ask: what to do, for example, when guests come? The architect took care of this aspect, too, a recreation area for two. The interior of the small living room is decorated without any special pomp - minimalism and the absence of unnecessary details that would only clutter up the already small space.Calm and measured rest in a compact bedroomFlawless design for a tiny room ForA separate place for sleeping was designed. If you think that there is no place to lie down, we will reassure you. Instead of a traditional bed, a mattress slightly smaller than a double bed is installed on a special podium. There is also a work area designated by a desk. The eye is drawn to the abundance of natural light coming in through the translucent facade. Here the owner sits on the edge of the platform, whichis his bedroom. This is a space for one person, where he can relax and get inspired away from people and the noisy bustle. But at the same time, the housing is close enough to the city.Facade from the street Steel mesh on moreThe busy side of the building is a kind of veil that provides a sufficient level of confidentiality and the right to privacy. Unconventional, intricate and, at the same time, functional and comfortable modern housing is designed for one person. Although the limited size does not allow for a full-scale arrangement of a unique interior design, the architect has created a project that is very interesting and unique in its kind. This is a small island of life, a quiet and cozy abode where a creative person can relax and be inspired.
