Despite the fact that the hotel is located in the verythe heart of Chinese Taiwan, its appearance is characterized not by Eastern motifs, but by Western European luxury. Architectural techniques such as marble columns, arches, stucco on the walls, which are common in Italian or French residences, seem outlandish here, surrounded by Asian culture. According to the idea of the founder and ideological inspirer of the Four IV company Chris Dewar-Dixon, the hotel guests should have the impression that they have entered a castle not inferior to the famous Versailles. However, to avoid the feeling of counterfeiting, the architects complemented the classic French design with modern decor and technological details.
French motifs are also visible inin the design of the hotel rooms. However, unlike Four IV, Henry Leung did not choose a literal interpretation of this style. He also focused on an elegant color palette and luxurious details, but complemented them with subtle decorative touches that correspond to the Asian style. The story of the fusion of two cultures - European and Asian - is completed by the restaurants designed by Tomie Chi. The influence of the designer's origins can be seen in the interiors of these rooms. He enjoys using such traditional Chinese materials as black teak, reed, and decorative bonsai trees. However, despite all the classic techniques, the restaurants look truly modern thanks to modernist details such as exclusive lighting from David Singer and signature ceiling decor.
