Your favorite paper lamp has lost its former gloryattractiveness, and you are thinking about sending it to the dump? Do not rush. Our master class will teach you how to return it to its aesthetic appearance. It is difficult to overestimate the role of paper lamps in modern decor. They have an aesthetic appearance, easily fit into various interior styles and create a pleasant, unobtrusive lighting. The only downside of these accessories is the short life of use. Such a capricious material as paper gets dirty over time, turns yellow, tears and loses its decorative value. However, there is an easy way to restore a paper lampshade, which will not only return it to its former attractiveness, but also give it individuality. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of this method on the popular paper lamp "Storm" of the famous brand IKEA.
Materials
To get started, you need toPrepare the tape. Its choice depends on your handicraft skills. If you have experience in this matter and are confident in the dexterity of your hands, use regular transparent tape. Its fragments remain invisible even with the lamp on, but you need to stick them very precisely: you will only have one attempt. Beginners are better off using paper tape, as it is somewhat easier to work with. You will also need paints that can be used to draw on paper, such as gouache or watercolor, and a thin brush.
Repair
Restoration should begin with eliminating damage, i.e. paper tears. To do this, cut the tape into strips about 1.5 cm thick.
Then, carefully aligning the edges of the paper at the breaks, you should seal all unwanted holes on the inside of the lampshade.
Decor
After you have restored integritystructures using improvised patches, it's time to start masking stains, streaks and other visual defects. Paints will help you with this. Don't immediately draw a large-scale picture on a paper surface, as you risk changing your lamp beyond recognition and being disappointed with the result. Start small. Outline all problem areas with neat thin lines. Use one base color that is guaranteed to match the interior of the room.
Once you have drawn all the necessary lines, it will be easier for you to decide on the final style of the drawing.
