Splinter Works was founded in 2009designers Miles Hartwell and Matt Withington. Here's what they say about their work: "We strive to create interesting and inspiring furniture sculptures, and to enrich the lives of the people who purchase our furniture. Our goal is to create objects that are aesthetically pleasing, thoughtful, enjoyable to use, and thought-provoking."Not long ago, the company presented to the courtcustomers their carbon fiber hammock bathtub. The structure is attached to the walls with stainless steel brackets and appears to float above the floor. The bathtub is 2.7 m long, its slope and shape are ergonomically designed, and there is enough space for you to truly relax.
The bath is filled through a floor tap,The water drains through a drain in the floor. Layers of carbon fiber (which, by the way, is very pleasant to the touch) are wrapped around the foam core of the structure and create a kind of cushion, thanks to which the water in the bath remains hot for a long time. Carbon fiber is very light (the bath weighs only 14 kg) and at the same time incredibly durable.
Following the success of the hammock bath, many of its detailshave been refined and used in new models – the Splinter Works company was able to expand its collection of bathtubs and sinks. They attract attention with their exquisite broken shapes and deep black color.
It is interesting that the same technologies are used in the production of bathtubs and sinks as in the production of Formula 1 racing cars.
