The interior of small houses abroad

Rope Pavilion: a cozy nest in the snowy desert

An unusual rope pavilion designed byby the designers of the architectural bureau Kevin Erickson, in 2012 became another winner of the annual competition for architects called Art +. The main objective of the event is to select the best tourist houses, which are then placed in Winnipeg - a popular tourist resort that many winter sports enthusiasts strive to visit. The main goal of the pilgrimage for most travelers is the ice-covered Assiniboine River, along the banks of which small buildings are located every kilometer, where frozen skaters and skiers can warm up and rest. One of them is the rope hut that has become the object of our attention. However, thanks to the combination of simple materials, it looks more like the nest of some huge fairy-tale bird, which somehow ended up in this kingdom of snow and ice.Its base is a small platform made ofwood, on which a light structure of wooden beams is installed. At the top they are connected to each other, forming a kind of dome. The usual roof here is replaced by a rope stretched over them, which protects the interior from the wind. On both sides it reaches the very ground, and covers the other surfaces only halfway, allowing a person to freely enter inside. For nighttime, there is a subdued but very comfortable lighting system, which also functions as a kind of beacon, capable of orienting lost tourists. At first glance, it seems that this structure is too light for such a harsh climate. Is it really up to its purpose? What do you think?
