Ghost House: A Mirror Installation in the US Desert

1

There are no ghosts. But illusions are a common thing. And, as it turned out, they are found even in architecture. Today we look at the old house in the middle of the desert, through which you can see the sky. In one of the deserts near the state of California (USA), a ghost house is buried in the sand. At least, this is exactly the impression produced by the installation of Lucid Homestead, created by Phillip K. Smith III. Part of the wooden plating the artist replaced with mirrors, and in the windows inserted mirror panels with a multi-colored illumination. Now the building, from which side you come, as if seen through. This semitransparent, almost ephemeral monument of a past retiring into the past seems to embody the essence of matter in the matter of memories that dissolve under the onslaught of years. At dusk, when darkness sets in, the house produces the strongest impression: the LED panels on the windows change color from yellow to purple. According to the author of the project, so he wanteddraw a parallel with how sunlight changes the space around. After all, the same object (for example, the mountain) during the day seems blue, then pink, then black. demilked.com
