Ideas for small interiors

Design of a small apartment with mobile partitions

We invite you to get acquainted with the uniqueinterior of a transformable apartment by talented Russian designer Vlad Mishin. The goal of the project was to demonstrate that even a compact area can become functional thanks to a creative approach to planning. Some of the partitions in the apartment are not static, but change their position, transforming the space in accordance with the wishes of the residents. The frame of the movable structures is made ofmetal, painted black, and then covered with plywood panels of irregular shape. The special geometry of the partitions is not accidental, it is related to their technical features and allows to form a comfortable ergonomic space. Three original blocks rotate around their axis. This technology provides convenient viewing of TV programs from different points of the apartment, as the TV panel is built into the central rotating block. Two more structures fold, opening access to the bedroom and kitchen work surfaces. It is not only the functionality of the layout that distinguishes the apartment from many others. The interior design uses furniture and home decor elements that repeat the broken lines of the plywood panels. The combination of these structures produces an amazing surreal impression, as if you are looking at a distorted reflection in a crooked mirror or at a canvas by Pablo Picasso.
