Earth Hour - 2017: protecting the environment every day

Earth Hour is coming up very soon, soWe decided to share a selection of simple tips that will help you save energy and take care of the environment On March 25, the lights will go out in homes, shopping centers, and cultural sites around the world for exactly 60 minutes. The Earth Hour campaign, organized by the World Wildlife Fund WWF, will be held for the tenth time this year to once again draw people's attention to the need to protect the world around us. Although it is worth taking care of it every day - and here are seven simple tips for you. 1. Choose LEDs Thanks to lighting, our homes become more comfortable and safer. But it takes up about a quarter of the total percentage of electricity consumption on Earth! Therefore, you need to choose LED lamps, which give a soft, pleasant light, are very compact and open up a lot of possibilities for interior design - they can be integrated into lamps of any shape and size. LEDs use 85% less electricity than incandescent bulbs and can last up to 20 years.2.Eliminate heat leaks A cozy home is a warm home. We often use electricity just to keep warm. Therefore, it is important to identify heat leaks in the house and get rid of them. Lay warm carpets on the floor and choose thick curtains. Curtains will protect not only from drafts, but also from too hot sun - this will allow you to refuse to constantly run the air conditioner. 3. Use energy-efficient household appliances We are talking about refrigerators, induction hobs, freezers and washing machines. Such equipment consumes less electricity and - what is more important - does less harm to nature. And it looks modern and as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Related articles 4. Use little tricks Have you tried cooking several dishes at once in one pan? This is possible with the help of steamer inserts. Do not forget to cover the pans with a lid - this also saves energy! When washing, try not to use a temperature higher than 30 degrees - most modern powders and gels begin to actively clean fabrics already at this temperature. Washing at low temperatures helps save up to 40% of energy.5.Save water We can all contribute to preserving the planet's water resources if we remember to turn off the water, regulate the water pressure, tighten the tap tightly and choose economical models of faucets. The IKEA company, for example, produces kitchen faucets with an aerator, which reduce water consumption by almost 30%.6.Separate and save Recycling and reducing waste - we can do it! First, organize your own waste sorting system at home with ergonomic containers. And don't throw away a lot of products: use transparent storage containers and organizers to keep everything in sight and avoid buying unnecessary things.7.Don't use batteries Rechargeable batteries are an eco-friendly alternative to disposable batteries. Some models can be charged up to 1,500 times! If you still use classic batteries, do not throw them in the trash, they are hazardous waste that causes great harm to the environment and human health.
