An amazing event was solemnly opened in Orleansbuilding – pavilion The Turbulences of the Regional Center for Contemporary Art FRAC Centre An amazing building – pavilion The Turbulences of the Regional Center for Contemporary Art FRAC Centre – was ceremoniously opened in Orleans. The authors of the project are architects from the bureau Jakob + Macfarlane. The guys took the concept of constant movement, turbulence, as their idea. Using parametric tools, they created several curvilinear cylinders, which became the basis of the structure. This center is located near former militarywarehouses. The bureau won the competition for the best project for reconstruction and expansion of the territory back in 2008. The building that was previously on this site was demolished, and in its place appeared not only functional premises, but also an information gallery, a new office block, an archive, exhibition halls and meeting rooms. The most interesting architectural invention isThe Turbulences indoor pavilion, which is very similar to the landscape of a mysterious planet. Its lower part is made of durable concrete, and the upper part is made of a tubular metal structure covered with perforated aluminum panels and LED backlighting. The system turns on automatically after built-in sensors detect changes in the level of natural light. The media facades were designed by Electronic Shadow. The project cost 8.5 million euros.
