Are you sure that when you decorate your interior or buynew furniture, guided by your own opinion? Do you know your interior psychotype? And why do you think you can live in it? The answers to these questions are in our review If you are thinking about changing the interior, then you definitely need to find out your psychotype. Otherwise, you may encounter pitfalls, for example, you may not get an interior for your soul, but a designer’s vision imposed on you. But the thing is that you stay here to live, the designer comes and goes, and the interior will be with you for a long time. To get the most harmonious option and know how to behave with the designer and what you should pay attention to, you will need to delve into psychology for a while. And it would be good for designers to know what kind of clients they may encounter in their practice. While preparing this material, we turned to the works of scientists Polina Polyanskaya and Valery Zashchepenkov (who is also a practicing architect). In their works, they analyze in great detail all the psychological aspects that affect a person and his interior. We tried to learn all the most valuable information and pass it on to you by compiling a list of the main psychotypes. The authors of the scientific works we consulted note that these definitions should not be taken as precise and indisputable, because in life, mixed psychotypes are most often encountered.
1. Time Keeper
This person is very sensitive to all things andobjects that gradually come into his interior. He is unable to throw away a long-unneeded postcard or a souvenir from a friend with whom he has long lost contact. He becomes dependent on these objects without noticing it. It is interesting that things can influence the human psyche, so it is very important to determine the value of a particular object. People of this psychotype react sharply to a change in environment, as soon as you move furniture, change curtains or repaint a wall in a different color, as the "keeper of time" immediately changes his outlook and attitude to the world and people. When choosing an interior style, such people most often lean towards the Empire or bourgeois style. Their home will definitely have ruffles, carpets, gold inserts, pillows of unusual shapes, a lot of little things - napkins, figurines. Our opinion: - Based on this, the designer should develop a sufficient number of storage systems. Moreover, they should be roomy. These can be shelves, cabinets, podiums, cabinets. Such an apartment cannot do without dressing rooms and storage rooms, small utility rooms. To implement this condition, the designer will have to work hard with the layout. After all, to store things, you need walls, niches or separate rooms.
2. Sprinter
Dynamics are important to him, he is constantly inmovement and life without it. Such a person constantly likes to experiment, changing his life and his interior. For this type, free movement around the apartment is important, so such people prefer studio spaces or interiors with the smallest partitions. The "Sprinter" likes to participate in the design of his own interior, and he pays much attention to the layout and zoning. He likes it when one room easily turns from a dining room into a living room, from a living room into a bedroom, from a bedroom into a functional office. Working with such a client, the designer needs to think through the lighting scenarios carefully. "Sprinters" are completely delighted when with one movement of their fingers they can create a club atmosphere in their home with neon lights, or, conversely, turn down the lighting to semi-darkness and enjoy an intimate atmosphere in the rays of spotlights. People of this psychotype are constantly passionate about something. They have a lot of hobbies and preferences. If it is reading, then his apartment will definitely have a large library. A culinary fan will acquire ultra-modern equipment and equip the kitchen to the highest standard, and a music lover will install a large music center in the apartment.
3. Jeweler
A person of this psychotype thinks in details. He is attracted to small details. Looking at a painting, he will examine each of its elements, laying them out piece by piece. When choosing interior items, a "jeweler" will always be interested in the texture of wood, fittings or fine carving. He approaches everything from an aesthetic point of view. Such people assemble their interior based on such details, what they liked most, and not guided by the overall holistic picture that will be obtained in the end. Therefore, it is important for a designer to catch this moment and select furniture together with his client so that the interior corresponds to the intended concept and is harmonious for the owner of the house. There is something to look at in the house of a "jeweler". There are many exquisite things, sometimes handmade and made using complex techniques. This person is partial to decor, unusual details, intricate patterns that gradually form a mosaic that is not always harmonious.
4. Napoleon
This psychotype is the complete opposite.described above. "Napoleon" always thinks big, discarding small details that only irritate him. When buying a chair, he will look at its design as a whole, evaluate its size and shape. These people prefer clarity in everything, including the interior. Everything should be logical, functional and practical. "Napoleon" feels great in large spaces furnished with high-quality furniture, without pretentious details. He prefers strict geometric shapes, does not like to clutter up space, but also does not tolerate boredom. Ecological and minimalist styles are ideal for such people.
5. Sponge
The interior of a person who belongs to thispsychotype, is made up of other people's opinions and ideas. The "Sponge" always and in everything listens to the opinions of other people - acquaintances, relatives, designers or other authoritative persons. It is not difficult for a designer to impose his opinion on such a customer and make the interior to his taste - no one will object. Our opinion: - In this case, the customer himself should still listen to himself and his aspirations. Blindly following the advice of others, you can lose your individuality. Perhaps, at the stage of development and implementation of the interior, you will not feel that you are uncomfortable in this home. But over time, this feeling will only worsen. Often, people simply sell such apartments, running away from the "alien" interior in a panic.
6. Smart guy
People of this type can listen to the opinions of others, butwill never listen to them and apply them in their own interior. The "smart guy" is always confident in his rightness, he thinks that he understands everything better than others. Of course, it is possible that in some specific area such a person has no equal. If initially the "smart guy" is opposed to working together with the designer, then in such a conflict union a good interior will not be born. There is also a positive side of the coin - the "smart guy" can give clear guidelines on what he wants to see in his interior. In this case, the process of designing and implementing the idea is easy and interesting for both the customer and the designer. By the way, many architects and designers also belong to this psychotype, since in life and work they are guided by their opinion.
7. Fashionista
These people follow fashion and want to bethe interior was built only on trendy techniques and furnished only with the most fashionable items. They are guided by the concept of "so fashionable!": if my friend has this lamp, but I don't, I'm behind the times. "Fashionists" strive to have the same things, objects as in glossy magazines. They do not want to express themselves through the interior. It is important for them not to fall flat on their face in front of the same "fashionists". It is easy for a designer to work with such a psychotype, even if it is not always interesting. But the result of the work is always known in advance.
8. Individual
Not like everyone else - this is the motto of the "individuals".They do not want to blend in with the crowd, which is why they are constantly looking for new styles and techniques. Such people create new trends, mixing existing ones with something innovative. Their favorite style is eclecticism. It allows them to go beyond standard styles and create an individual interior. Incompatible is compatible is another slogan of this psychotype of people. They challenge society by combining examples of different styles, shapes and colors. Such a client is a real find for a designer working in the pop art style.
9. Monogamous
"Monogamous" people do not change their favorite style. They choose it for life. Wherever they move and wherever they live, they will strive to make the interior in the same style as their previous home. A representative of this psychotype adheres to one style, but complements it with small elements that characterize his personality. That is, he expresses himself in these small details. This can be a poster from a favorite movie in a loft studio or a bright pillow in a calm minimalist interior.
Types by time
These are not all the types we wanted to talk about.tell today. In addition to the main psychotypes, there is a division of personalities by time. Regardless of whether you are a "monogamous" or a "smart guy", you also belong to the time type - "contemporary", "fantast" or "lyricist".
- Contemporary. Such a person lives only in the present time. He brings practicality and convenience to the forefront, without looking ahead - whether he will use this chair in a year. Contemporaries are adherents of eclecticism and chaotic styles.
- Fantastic. These people are like from another planet. They like everything modern, new, unusual and technological. They feel good in a futuristic high-tech interior. The fantasy person surrounds himself with objects that can transform with technogenic design.
- Lyricist.Lyricists prefer ecological or rustic design. The theme of nature is close to them, so they choose natural materials and warm colors. They are comfortable in classic, traditional, ecological styles, and they are not against country or Provence.
