A vintage suitcase is a stylish thing, butimpractical: it is inconvenient to travel with it, and it takes up a lot of space in the pantry. However, this item has a hidden functionality. What is it? Find out from our post Vintage suitcases look incredibly attractive, so they are usually used not so much for their intended purpose as decorative interior items. However, their potential is much wider. To see this for yourself, we suggest you combine aesthetics and functionality by turning your vintage suitcase into a fashionable coffee table.
You will need:
- Vintage suitcase with a rigid frame (it can be taken on the grandfather's attic or bought at a flea market);
- 4 furniture legs with attachments (can be found in any construction shop);
- yardstick;
- interior paint for wood (in our case - white);
- brush;
- drill;
- a sheet of plywood (preferably).
Stage 1
Paint the furniture legs in your desired color and let them dry thoroughly.
Stage 2
Cut a sheet of plywood the size of the inside bottom of the suitcase: this will help give the structure additional strength.
Stage 3
Turn the suitcase upside down.Position the leg mounts where you want them and mark them with a pencil. Then use a nail or awl to make holes for the screws to make installing the mounts easier.
Stage 4
Using a drill and screws, install the leg mounts. The screws should not be screwed in all the way (we will continue working with them a little later).
Stage 5
Place a sheet of plywood inside the suitcase.Hold it firmly on one side so that your hands are not in the way of the screws. On the other side, continue to screw the screws in using a drill. As a result, they should pierce the plywood sheet. All that remains is to screw the legs into the fasteners - and your stylish vintage table is ready!thediydiary.com
