Decorating fixtures with your own hands: decor bra, chandeliers

In every home there are things whose appearancestopped liking the owners. But they serve faithfully for many years, and you don’t want to part with them. In this situation, there is only one way out - to develop a new design for the old thing.Fabric Shade DecorationAn old lampshade can be updated with fabric decor.

Unexpected decoration of fixtures

When the old lamp no longer pleases the eye andafter the renovation does not fit into the interior of the room, do not rush to get rid of it. Just a little effort, and your favorite thing will turn into a stylish art object that will become a source of pride for its owners. In order to make the decor, everything that is in the house is suitable, for example, old toys. Small plastic toys are most suitable: little people and soldiers (Fig. 1).Figure 1. To make the figures look the same, they need to be painted with spray paint. In addition to these, you will need the following to complete the decoration:

  • Glue.
  • Paint.
  • Brush.
  • Table lamp on the leg.
  • Scotch.
  • The electrical wire is attached to the leglamps with tape. Then the toys are glued to the leg. They need to be attached as tightly as possible to each other so that the lamp leg is not visible. In order to add mystery to the resulting structure and “age” it a little, you need to paint it with silver or bronze paint. In order to paint every small detail, it is best to use aerosol paints. The result will be a real work of art. To make the structure fit into the interior of the room more harmoniously, mirrors or photo frames can be decorated in the same way. Return to contents</a>

    Interesting ideas for decor

can be made from the most unexpected items. For example, from fabric strips and a lattice shelf from a refrigerator (Fig. 2). This chic lamp will become a real decoration for a bedroom or a recreation area in the living room.Figure 2. The lattice shelf from the refrigerator can be painted in the color of the fabric used. To create it, you will need:

  • Cloth, lace, braid.
  • Lattice.
  • Scissors.
  • Needle with thread.
  • From fabric, lace and braid should be cutstrips of the desired length. Then hang them over the entire area of the shelf, filling each crossbar tightly. Each strip should be fixed at the top with a thread. In order to completely disguise the metal rods of the shelf, all edges should be wrapped with fabric strips. Instead of a regular light bulb, you can place a Christmas tree garland inside this chandelier. Hang the lamp on chains or on regular wire, having previously wrapped them with fabric.Figure 3.An old floor lamp can be decorated with paper flowers. With a little imagination, you can completely transform an old floor lamp. To decorate the lampshade, you will need thin paper: tissue paper, packaging paper or tracing paper. Cut circles or squares out of it. The main condition is that the figures have the same diameter. If you do not want to mess around with cutting, you can use paper cupcake molds. This decor is best suited for a light, single-color lampshade. Paper "flowers" are glued to the lampshade using PVA glue. You should start from the top edge. Each blank is folded in four and glued tightly to each other by the bottom edge. The "flowers" should be placed so tightly that they completely hide the lampshade. The work is painstaking and time-consuming, but the result will meet the wildest expectations. The lampshade will look like a weightless fluffy cloud (Fig. 3). Return to the table of contents</a>

    Lamp in the autumn motives

The floor lamp shade can be decorated in another way. Using acrylic paint, the lamp can be decorated in autumnal motifs. To do this, you will need:

  • Acrylic paint in different colors (orange, yellow, brown, "golden metallic", black).
  • Lacquer varnish.
  • PVA glue.
  • Brush.
  • Sponge.
  • Pencil for drawing on glass.
  • Crocheted napkins can be usedto make a lampshade. The work begins with priming the lampshade with PVA glue. The next stage of decoration can be started only after the primer has completely dried. Apply paint with a sponge in separate strokes-spots. First with orange paint. Then apply yellow paint in the same way to those places that remain unpainted. The next step is to apply craquelure varnish. It should not be applied to the entire surface, but in some places. Leave the lampshade until the varnish is completely dry. Then you need to dilute the brown paint with water. The consistency should resemble liquid sour cream. Apply the resulting composition to the lampshade with a brush so as not to go over the same place twice. Cracks will appear on the surface almost immediately. Leave the lamp until it is completely dry. Then cover the surface with gold metallic paint and a little black. Apply them also in separate strokes. After the paint dries, apply the selected design using a glass outline. If these are autumn motifs, you can draw leaves. Apply the design using dots. If it is difficult to draw on your own, you can cut out a ready-made stencil and trace it. For greater effect, dots along the outline of the design in different colors. Draw the centers of the leaves with orange or yellow paint. Dry the finished work and varnish. Return to contents</a>

New life of an old lamp

Figure 4.To keep the edges of the knitted cover from losing their shape, they need to be starched. An interesting decor can be made for a sconce. Its lampshade is “dressed” in a beautiful knitted cover. For this, it is best to use natural cotton or woolen ribbon yarn. It will not heat up or melt when the lamp is on. You should start making this decor by measuring the diameter of the lampshade. Then, using a crochet hook, knit a chain of air loops. Its length should be 1.5 times longer than the result obtained. Knitting continues with air loops in a circle. Each subsequent row is attached to the previous one with a double crochet. As a result, you need to get a “tube mesh”. Its length is the height of the lampshade plus 8-10 cm. In the last row, double crochets are knitted to get a small ruffle as a result. Pull the ribbon through the top of the cover and gather it in folds. After this, you can put the "clothes" on the lampshade. If everything went as it should, you can tighten the assembly tape so that the cap does not fall. The original decor is ready (Fig. 4).
