Home library - the pride of the owner

If you have books in your house, you are not only smarta person, but also a potential owner of an interior that is exceptional in beauty and convenience. The main purpose of books is to give knowledge, but no one has cancelled the possibility of decorating an office or living room with bookcases and shelves. In the old days, the not very reading, but ambitious public preferred to line up publications on the shelves by size or color of the cover, and connoisseurs of their internal content - by authors, directions and age purpose.

There is always a place for a book in the house

It doesn't matter what kind of books you prefer. It is important that they are kept in conditions that ensure their safety and accessibility. And the best place for them is cabinets or prefabricated modules that can not only be placed anywhere, but also – if necessary – easily rearranged. The ideal option for books and old volumes is closed, glass shelves: you can see what is standing, and dust does not get in. At the same time, it is better to place heavy volumes on the lower tiers, and lighter and less popular ones – on the upper ones.Where to put bookcases is not the most important questionsimple. They are most often placed along the walls. However, you can also partition a room with them if it is large and you want to zone it. But in this case, light shelves and modules that let in at least a little light and do not visually weigh down the space are more suitable. Take a closer look at the features of the layout of your house or apartment: perhaps you will see corners that you have not used yet. And, probably, this is where you will put shelves with books and a small armchair, and a lamp hung on the wall nearby, or a small floor lamp will make this area cozy and independent. A shelf with books above the doorway, on the side of the entrance, under a wide window and even in the hallway also has the right to exist.

Any library loves cleanliness and maintenance.

Materials from which books are madecabinets and shelves are varied, but very practical. Solid, massive cabinets are best made of beech, walnut, oak, birch. Small decorative elements made of wood materials or veneer are acceptable, but they should not distract attention from the books. An excellent alternative is chipboard and MDF structures, and externally they can be a skillful imitation of valuable wood species. Plastic shelves are possible in small quantities and only where they serve more as a decorative element than as a repository for collected works of classics of Russian and foreign literature. One more important point should not be forgotten:Books, even if they are in closed cabinets, are harmed by bright sunlight. They should not be placed near a heat source, be it radiators or portable radiators. High humidity and dry air are also an unfavorable factor that significantly worsens the condition of books. It is not recommended to store volumes tightly pressed against each other.Wet cleaning at least once a week will savebooks from wood beetles, which can “damage” their spines and pages. Don’t forget to wipe open spaces on the shelves from dust, but try not to let excess moisture get on the books, because fungus and mold can form on them, which are difficult to fight. A vacuum cleaner is a great helper in caring for the shelves, but make sure that its suction power does not damage the books themselves. By the way, they, like many flowers, love airing. Take care of your book treasures regularly – and they will thank you with an ideal appearance.
