Is it possible to turn a warehouse of collectibles intoa cozy home? As it turns out, it is quite possible – just paint the walls white and discover your perfect artistic taste. Having a three-story building won’t hurt either. We sometimes spend our entire lives searching for treasures, and only at the very end of the journey do we realize that the most valuable thing was always right under our noses. This is what happened to Robert Umstead: after years of trying to find a cozy place to live, he suddenly realized that the Hastings Antiques Centre building, which he had owned for over 30 years, was ideal for this. Moreover, on three floors you can reallyhad to expand and indulge in my hobbies on a completely different scale: sailing and contemporary art collections require additional square meters. The heart of an antique dealer did not allow to replace the old onesplank floors, but it took time to remove the deeply ingrained "dust of centuries" from them in places. And although the floors had to be covered with carpets in some places, such a trick would not work with the walls. Robert Umsted leveled them to a perfect smoothness and painted them in two main shades: white and slate. You can't find a more grateful background for painting. We must give credit to the owner of this house:Not everyone can organically combine antiques, modern art and ethnic items. And working with low ceilings is not so easy. In order to reduce this effect to a minimum, we had to give up window curtains. But what won't you do for the sake of art? http://wealdentimes.co.uk
