Surrealistic apartment for a young couple

You can live in a fairy tale even if you are in realityof the modern world. This Mumbai apartment, reminiscent of some of Salvador Dali's paintings, proves that even in such a serious matter as interior design, there is room for madness. The "name" of this interior - Organic house - can easily be misleading. Firstly, this is not a house, but an apartment, and there are no indoor plants at all, although the word "organic" seems to imply their presence. The abundance of natural wood is rather due to a cultural feature - the apartment is located in the suburbs of Mumbai, and just look at the design! In short, it is not an interior, but a mystery. The young couple who own this65-meter apartment, from the very beginning wanted something unusual, and there is no doubt - their wish came true. Arched passages, a minimum of doors, mosaics, the smoothest lines imaginable, and that strange feeling, the name of which everyone comes up with for themselves… Some people think that this interior is inspired bypaintings of some abstract artist, someone is trying to remember the name of an old cartoon (there was definitely something similar there), others claim that there is a clear reference to the caves of primitive people. We will note a deep bow to Indian traditions - the already mentioned wood, mosaic, multiple light sources, as well as the amazing harmony, somehow incomprehensibly achieved in this fabulous surrealism. Bravo! Editorial opinion:— We probably won’t tell you how to design exactly the same interior today — the story would be too long. But we simply must draw your attention to one striking technique that is quite feasible in our northern expanses. One of the main atmospheric methods that creates that very feeling of magic is multi-level lighting. Ideally, it would be worth emphasizing all the design features in this way. However, in conditions of a large number of bright details and a varied background (unless, of course, the walls are already painted in a uniform neutral shade), the key principle of lighting arrangement should be restraint. For example, you can highlight exhibited collectibles, paintings, or framed photographs. Options with hidden lighting, where the light sources themselves are not visible, are most preferable — this way you can highlight niches, indoor plants, or even bookshelves. xnet.co.il
