Sculpture in the interior:Kama Sutra, Hieronymus Bosch and Deer Heads Nowadays, many bars and restaurants feature decor in the form of individual sculptures or bas-reliefs. The idea of bringing monumental art into interiors is not new, but it was usually used only to “enrich” the interiors of restaurants decorated in classical styles. As for modern spaces, this technique has only come into use in the last ten years. Let’s look at the example of the works of the Archpoint bureau to see how sculptures can transform the interiors of public places. The use of sculptural art objects in completely different projects — from fine dining restaurants to gun shops — is one of the signature techniques of the bureau’s director, Valery Lizunov. The bureau has been designing public spaces for over 10 years and is considered a trendsetter in restaurant design. The sculpture appeared in the bureau’s very first project — the First club. Glass designer lamps and sculptural bar stools made of cast iron were designed for this interior.Valery Lizunov, head of the Archpoint bureau:If creating an interior is not just a craft, but an art, then it is necessary to use such high motives and techniques so that the establishment — a bar, a restaurant, a store — has its own unique look, its own "thing". archpoint.ru The Zatura Bar project uses lamps in the shape of dogs. The dogs hang down with their heads down and hold "Ilyich light bulbs" in their teeth. The Poison restaurant has a copper lamp in the dining roombust of Bosch. It is aged in such a way that it seems as if it was brought from some European town. Due to the fact that the bureau works directly with sculptors and sets them tasks, they have the opportunity to implement less unusual ideas.Another of Valery Lizunov’s signature techniques ismolded heads in the interior. The idea came to him after visiting a taxidermy exhibition in Paris. As it turned out, large animal heads, under the right lighting, give a very interesting visual effect. However, many are wary or even frightened by stuffed animals, so the designers slightly transformed the idea with heads that took on a sculptural form. Since next year, despite the economic situation, restaurants will still open, the architectural bureau Archpoint predicts that the owners of expensive restaurants will place even greater emphasis on the uniqueness of the interiors of the establishments in order to retain and increase the number of their customers. And this means that we will see many more interesting sculptures. archpoint.ru
