Very high ceilings are not an obstacle to a cozy andinteresting interior. This was proven by the designers from the Axis Mundi studio. They created an ultra-modern stylish interior with bright details, turning a nondescript room into a two-level apartment. This bright apartment is filled with light and positive energy. It is furnished with designer things tastefully and in moderation. It seems that a young and energetic person lives here. Or maybe that is true? For example, the owner of the apartment is a 25-year-old girl who has been accustomed to noisy parties and good expensive things since childhood. But what if we go further and assume that her parents are famous Manhattan party-goers, representatives of the creative class? It is already becoming interesting, isn't it?The author of this project is John Beckman(Jon Beckerman), who heads the Axis Mundi studio. He decided to decorate this small two-level apartment of 67.5 square meters in a modern style. He created the interior together with colleagues Nic Messerlian and Richard Rosenbloom. The thing is that initially it was just a room without walls and partitions with a very high ceiling. For Jon, this was not a problem, on the contrary, he turned this disadvantage into one big advantage by building a second level. A cantilever black steel staircase leads to it. Thus, a very nice two-level apartment with a spacious bedroom, an ergonomic kitchen and a cozy living room was obtained. Although we assumed that the owner of the apartmentShe loves parties, and at home she probably wanted peace and quiet. Indeed, John and his fellow designers managed to create a space for relaxation that is not devoid of dynamics. And they managed to avoid boredom and not make the interior monotonous thanks to many designer things. This includes the famous egg chair by Arne Jacobsen, and the designer hand-made carpet by The Rug Company, and the hanging chandelier by Gino Sarfatti, and lamps by Philippe Starck. A striking detail of the interior is the magnificent single-strip parquet, emphasizing the good taste of the hostess, apparently instilled in her by her parents. Our opinion: - The apartment does not have a TV or a music center. The hostess of the apartment preferred a neat custom-made fireplace. She loves to watch the fire and listen to the crackling of the logs. Paintings were chosen as wall decorations -works of local artists. They are made in a marine theme, since the sea is perhaps another "weakness" of the girl. This is what determined the choice of blue for the bedroom. In addition to the fact that it is one of the most relevant colors this year, in this design blue has a calming effect on the psyche. Look how it harmonizes with the evening landscape outside the window. White is designed to curb the brightness of the colored details in this interior. It is a kind of filter that does not allow impulsiveness to become the main thing in this apartment. Everything should be in harmony. That is why the kitchen was made completely white, and the facade of the furniture is glossy. It reflects the light falling from the large arched window. Thus, the small space is filled with air and acquires lightness. Wooden chairs echo the parquet and do not allow the snow-white kitchen to earn a reputation as a sterile space devoid of soulfulness. Our opinion: - A small apartment with high ceilings has become a cozy home for a young and cheerful person who appreciates modern art, loves nature, and is actively involved in sports (as evidenced by the bicycle under the stairs). This girl appreciates quality and this is felt in every detail. In our opinion, the interior turned out to be complete and finished. Photographer Mikiko Kikuyama
