The exclusive interior of this house attractsattention abundance of amazing works of art Vanessa Brennan managed to make the interior of her home truly exclusive. She is always looking for unusual solutions. A rare ability to see beauty in everyday things helped her in arranging her apartment. Although Vanessa's home is not impressive in size, it is highly functional and fully reflects the inner world of the owner. “I wanted to create a modern multifunctional space,” says Vanessa. “A small apartment where two children live simply must be practical.” The heroine of our article says the following: “There are many things dear to me in my house, each of which contains a fragment of the history of my life. I like to cook, travel and entertain, and the personification of these passions of mine is the numerous objects that can be found everywhere - vintage cutting boards, antique dishes, various trinkets and souvenirs. Besides everything else, my daughter’s classmates constantly gather in the apartment. Therefore, it was important for me that the interior was not only beautiful, but also functional.”You can find a huge variety in the apartmentинтересных вещей “Мне больше нравится, когда на пол ничего не постелено, но в некоторых случаях бывает уместно изменить своим предпочтениям. Так как площадь комнаты невелика, ковры были необходимы для обозначения границ зон. Марокканский коврик добавляет гостиной уюта, а лежащая рядом шкура зебры отделяет кухню. Она прочная, и потому быстрое истирание ей не грозит даже в том случае, если по ней будут ходить регулярно”. The sofa was used as a display piecesample at a Brooklyn store, so it was a bargain for Brennan. In this corner, a large print by Ash NYC sits on the right, next to a chalk drawing on the left. The latter was a gift from a South African architect Vanessa worked with. The composition is completed by a small painting by Evan Hecox. The sculptures were purchased from a recently closedAsh NYC store in Williamsburg The antique Moroccan rug was purchased from the website of the large New York company Nazmiyal Collection. “The various paintings, the geometric rug, the skin and the sofa go well together, as they are in similar colors,” Brennan notes. “The cushions on the sofa stand out a little, but the attention is mainly focused on the walls, which are full of exclusive pieces of art.” Vanessa admits that she has a real addiction to magazines and books on design. “My weakness is painting. The thing is, with one good painting you can completely transform the interior. And even though I don’t have much money, I’m always ready to spend money on a canvas or a collage. All these pieces of art gradually formed my personal collection. And, interestingly, each of them has its own story.” “My number one rule is to buy what I like. I believe that all these beautiful things together make something amazing, and this wall is proof that I’m right,” Brennan reveals her secret. A papier-mâché bird with a bright crest is combined with abstract paintings, works by a Russian cubist and a print by Hugo Guinness.A painting of a naked womanVanessa wrote it herself when she was 19. This part of the apartment houses most of Vanessa's entire library. Large ram-shaped bookends add life to the otherwise monotonous stacks of books. And the chests are used not only for storage, but also as tables.Chests and suitcases go well with each otherBrennan kept the kitchen pretty much the same except for the walls, which she painted the same shade as the living room. “It’s a little more modern than I’d like, but it’s incredibly functional and comfortable. And there’s nothing like a nice rug to soften a utilitarian space,” Vanessa says. “It really makes the whole look unique, along with the painting.”Vanessa's passion for art even extends to her kitchen design.A set of three bar stools was purchased atAmazon Under $25 Brennan wanted her bedroom to feel lighter and airier than the other rooms, which were all immersed in a deep purple palette. For the walls, she chose Halo by Benjamin Moore, which is described as a warm off-white. The antique French mirror was purchased at an antique store in Williamsburg; the throws, like the one on the bed, were originally used at Moroccan weddings; and the English dresser was found at an estate sale in Connecticut. The bedroom decor is very different fromrest of the apartment's interior "Williamsburg is a neighborhood of restaurants, artists, and musicians. Your neighbor on the landing might be an incredibly talented, creative person. It's very inspiring, and I'm lucky to live here," Brennan shared.Vanessa's dog, Grady, thrives in such a creative environment.
