What are Russians' favorite home activities? How does the home environment affect family relationships? In preparation for the release of the new Catalogue, IKEA conducted a study called “Life at Home”: it showed how we perceive our home and what really matters to us in it. It turned out that, despite all their love for it, 92% of respondents feel awkward saying that they spent the entire weekend at home. And this is not the only paradoxical fact
The fast pace of modern life forcesWe value moments of peace and the opportunity to spend our free time the way we want. However, we feel that weekends spent exclusively at home were wasted. And it doesn’t matter how many positive emotions the weekend brought.
It is interesting that people often agree to visitany event, even if they really don't want to do it. A good reason is needed to refuse - and in such situations, every fourth person cites bad weather, and women are more likely to lie than men in this case.
We value time spent with loved ones, because it isthe opportunity to be alone with your significant other, gather the whole family around the table or play a computer game with friends. Thus, 50% of respondents love it when they can not only enjoy their favorite dishes at lunch or dinner, but also have a heart-to-heart talk with someone. Another fact from the study is related to food: a leisurely breakfast on weekends is a real family tradition for every sixth respondent.
In different parts of our country people preferпроводить время по-разному.
Home is the place where we can do whatwe want! Thus, half of the Russians surveyed lick food wrappers when no one is looking. Almost the same number of respondents talk to household appliances, persuading them to work better. Every third person eats straight from the pot, and 28% often dance, repeating the movements of a music video.
The study found that 69% of respondents considered shopping for household goods to be the most enjoyable of all household chores.
When talking about household chores, people note that they do not really like washing, ironing and cleaning - only 26% of respondents enjoy tidying up.
Despite the fact that every fourth respondentoften shares his/her experiences with his/her pet, less than a third of respondents want to take care of pets. Taking care of plants also seems burdensome, but 30% of the study participants enjoy talking to them.
Sometimes people really miss homelive communication. For this reason, almost every fifth respondent would like the Internet to distract family members from each other less often. Today, people are “switched on” to several things at once even at home: more than half of Russians can easily eat, talk to their relatives, and at the same time respond to comments on social networks and check their email. That is why many are so tired of all-pervasive technologies. This is especially true for residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg: respondents from these two cities say that they would like to spend more time with their relatives without smartphones and tablets.
42% of Russians really like to visit. The best reason is no reason, they are sure. However, when it comes to receiving guests, only 12% of respondents are ready to change their plans abruptly.
"The Life at Home Study" once againproves that home is the best place on earth, because here everyone can be themselves. No matter how much we love traveling, we start to miss home, no matter how good we are when visiting, we say that home is better... It is the simple joys of home that we sometimes do not even notice that give us happiness every day. Therefore, we offer many inspiring solutions to make your favorite activities even more enjoyable. Arrange your home so that there is always room for any ideas, and we will definitely help you with this," says Anna Benon, Head of Marketing at IKEA in Russia.
