Unusual wall in the apartment:creating a work area The retractable wall in this apartment is the result of a stunning transformation of the living space. Some time ago, fate brought together a college professor living in a nearly dilapidated studio and progressive architect Michael Chen. The living space was so small and its condition so deplorable that Michael decided to change the situation at all costs. The most impressive result of Chen's work was a furniture system with a movable module that can change the functional purpose of the living area.
General view of the room The structure takes up twowalls, and its mobility is provided by a rail laid along the floor. During the day, the module moves to the wall, where a folding bed is arranged. The workspace is hidden behind sliding doors.
The principle of operation of the system in action MobileThe structure is operated manually, but according to the customer’s wishes, it is additionally equipped with a remote control. The wall is based on an aluminum frame, and plywood and MDF were used for the shelves. The entire room is painted in white glossy paint, visually increasing the space.
Lifting bed The architect refusedpendant lights, replacing them with powerful LED strips attached to the ceiling. According to his idea, the light directed at the ceiling is reflected from the white surface, so the apartment is always as bright as day.
Sleeping area The mobile module is built ina TV that can rotate around a central axis. This allows the owner of the apartment to watch TV programs from different points in the room. The mini-bedroom also has a wardrobe and a small shelf with books and a table lamp.
Bedroom as a dressing room When the bed is raised, the bedroom turns into a . The full-size wardrobe is made of solid oak, equipped with drawers and clothes rails.
Wardrobe and TV There are only two windows in the apartment, so a small table was installed next to one of them. This solution provided the design with a cozy look and completeness.
Tiny Dining Room Design Before You StartDuring the renovation, the kitchen only had a refrigerator and a sink, and there was no way to cook food in it. The updated interior, which is very fashionable and bright, now has a stove and a convenient countertop.
Kitchen and bathroom door The small bathroom is also decorated in white and, in addition to the shower stall and toilet, it contains a small cabinet for towels and other things.
