With your own hands

Amazing transformation of the IKEA bank into a stylish garden flashlight: a master class

You know, of course, that a glass jar inin combination with a candle, it can easily serve as a garden lantern. But in order for a banal container for preserving to look like a decorative accessory, it needs to be decorated. We will tell you how. In the summer, we spend a lot of time outdoors. Even after sunset, when it becomes completely dark, we do not want to move into a closed, albeit well-lit room. To prolong the pleasure of being outdoors, you can stock up on socket extenders and move all your table lamps to the garden, or you can make alternative light sources with your own hands. Today we will tell you how to make a charming garden lantern using an ordinary glass jar from IKEA and a ball of twine, which can decorate your garden, veranda, balcony or even a room.

Source materials:

  • a glass pot, bought at IKEA;
  • hank twine;
  • a strip of white tissue (under the skin);
  • scissors;
  • pliers;
  • 2 rings of wire;
  • Adhesive tape;
  • Glue (it is better to use an adhesive gun).

First, secure the end of the string with tape as shown in the photo.Then start wrapping the rope aroundjars. After making several turns and securing the end of the string with them, remove the adhesive tape that holds it in place. Continue wrapping until you reach the bottom.Once you have finished wrapping (before cutting off the remaining twine), secure the final turn with duct tape.Then apply glue to the cut to prevent the fibers from falling out and stick it to the jar. The tape can now be removed. Next, decorate the neck of the jar: simply wrap it with one turn of twine, cut off the excess and secure the ends with glue. Now you have a beautiful jar.To make it look like a lantern, you need to make a handle. To do this, twist two pieces of string together, using glue for additional fixation. This will be the lantern handle.To make the handle look more aesthetically pleasing, use fabric. Wrap it tightly around the ends of the rope as shown in the photo and secure with glue. Then cut off the ends. Separate one strand from your string - this will create a thread-like shape. Using a needle, thread the thread through the ends of the handle to create small loops. Now connect the handle to the string on the neck of the jar using rings made from wire. Your stylish garden lantern is ready! In fact, you can find for yourcrafts a variety of uses. For example, it can still serve as a storage container or a vase for flowers. In general, it can perform the functions of an ordinary jar and at the same time serve as an elegant decorative element that complements the interior in the Mediterranean or eco-style or in the Provence style. thethingsshemakes.blogspot.co.uk
