Dangerous pleasure: the most stylish weapon store in Russia

Designers from the ArchPoint bureau developed the interiorfor the Kolchuga store, which is located in the very center of Moscow. Why there is not a single stuffed animal in it, you can find out from our article! Kolchuga is the first domestic non-governmental chain of gun stores. It specializes in selling the best examples of weapons and equipment. The store in question is located in the historical center of the capital, in the Gostiny Dvor building, not far from the Kremlin and the Historical Museum. Here you can often see artists, politicians, journalists. The authors of the project, architects Valery Lizunov and Valeria Bykova, proposed to create an interior that would continue the history of the building and emphasize its advantages: high ceilings and vaults. Another goal was to move away from the typical hunting theme (from stuffed animals and similar entourage), to create not so much a store as an exhibition space in which weapons are exhibited. Hence the rejection of a traditional counter in favor of specially designed display cases, decorated in a classical style.Valeria Bykova, architect:"The project turned out to be very interesting in terms of implementation. Since the building is historical, previously unknown load-bearing elements were discovered during dismantling. The ventilation system also had to be modified. In addition, gun stores have special security requirements, and this also left a serious mark on the work." The weapon itself, having its own aesthetics andcharm, organically becomes an interior item, while its other elements (stucco monograms on the walls, oak arched portals, as well as stucco deer heads decorating the display cases) rather focus attention on expensive exhibits. As a general color scheme for the interiortones close to bleached oak were chosen. Zoning is carried out, firstly, by means of different floor levels, and secondly, by means of textures (wood and paint). There are zones of cold arms, guns, clothes, VIP… The department of the legendary Beretta brand of weapons is especially highlighted, in which the corporate preferences of the Italian manufacturer are combined with the general interior of the store: there is no stucco (only the Beretta logo is left), the marble on the floor is laid out in a classic pattern, dark display cases with a light back are used. http://archpoint.ru/ Valery Lizunov Valeria Bykova
