Today, professionals will tell you how to recreate the interior of the Oscar-winning film "The King's Speech". This time, we decided to thoroughly study the interior shown in Tom Hooper's historical tragicomedy "The King's Speech". The film tells the story of King George VI of Great Britain, who suffered from stuttering since childhood. With the help of speech therapist Lionel Logue, who is famous for his unconventional methods of treatment, the recently proclaimed King George VI tries to get rid of the affliction he hates. Almost the entire action of the film takes place in two locations - Logue's reception room and the chambers of Buckingham Palace. We decided to opt for the speech therapist's apartment and reception room, where, in addition to traditional English style elements, you can feel the influence of Art Deco, which was gaining popularity in the 1930s, and there are even loft elements. Reception The interior of the reception is typical of industrial buildings, as it uses various elements of the loft style - shabby walls, high ceilings, no partitions. The classic English style is evident here thanks to the gilded furniture, traditional fireplace and abundance of wood. As for the finishing, rough solid board with scuffs was chosen as the flooring. The ceiling and the upper level of the walls are painted in a discreet green. The high baseboard, carved cornice and doors with panels of dark and red wood echo the wooden columns, window frame and opening.Sufficient illumination of the room is achieveddue to spacious windows and ceiling lighting. The ceiling is decorated with stained glass windows with a geometric pattern. Artificial lighting sources are designed in a classic style - these are chandeliers, sconces, floor lamps and table lamps. The ceiling light in Log's reception area is positioned directly above the sofa and marks the guest area, the place where Log receives his patients.A fireplace is a must-have in Englishinterior. The fireplace in Log's reception area is over two meters high and is framed with carved wood panels in the color of the doors and baseboards. According to all the canons of English style, there is a relaxation area around the fireplace - several comfortable armchairs, a large carpet and a folding serving table made of dark wood. The desktop is massive, just like the rest of it.furniture, made of wood. It is made in a classic style and is equipped with several drawers. On it is a typewriter, recording equipment and other items necessary for the speech therapist's work.Classic shaped sofa with curved legsThe gilded frame is the most striking element of the spacious reception area. Its beige upholstery with a floral pattern echoes the green and beige color scheme of the walls and at the same time contrasts with the peeling paint, making this regal sofa look quite at home in the industrial interior of the reception area. Log's reception room also serves as his work room.office, so the interior features several desks. All of them are designed in the same style, made of dark wood and decorated with brass fittings. One of the many workstations is complemented by a wooden chair without upholstery with beautiful carved details. Of course, a speech therapist's office should have a bookcase. Log's library is presented in the form of a low cabinet made of dark wood of fairly simple shapes. The Log Family Living Room The Log Family Living RoomThe influence of the Art Deco style, which was gaining popularity in those years, can be felt. This style can be seen in the intricate shape of the table lamps, the geometric pattern of the carpet, and the furniture with rounded corners. The room is designed in light colors - the floor is covered with gray carpet and complemented by a beige carpet with a geometric pattern, and the walls are decorated with wallpaper with a silver floral pattern. The sofa and armchair with velvet beige upholstery and fringe match the overall color scheme of the room. Wooden furniture in a contrasting red shade stands out against the light background of the walls and floor. There is no ceiling light in the room.— it is replaced by various table lamps and sconces. It is better to choose brass sconces rather than gilded ones — so they will not contrast with the light color scheme of the room. For such an interior, it is better to choose wooden lamps with textile lampshades, decorated with ceramics or glass. The English style is characterized by a largethe number of decorative elements - paintings, carpets, table lamps, figurines, vases, dishes and other family heirlooms. The more of them, the cozier the interior.
